HIS HD2900PRO AIR OC actions ...

    Hello everybody!

I just got back home and straight to my new toys....

I've jumped from x1950pro to GF7900GS iChill and now HD2900pro and I'm simply amazed by how fast this card is relatively to previous!

    Some pictures:

    Better cooler design

    On stock clock it did following on X2 5600+ @3174MHz RAM 910MHz 4-4-4-12-15 2T

    3dm03 HD2900pro 600_1600 3174CPU CL4441215CR2.txt

    3dMark06 Cat7.9 HD2900Pro 600 1600 cpu3174.txt

    and for comparison 7900GS OCed
    3dMark06 FW162.18 7900GS 625 1604 cpu3174.txt

more will be filled later, including pics

    Then after some initial OC:

BTW anyone here can confirm to me what is 3D vgpu on HD2900XT? Thanks!

    More will follow shortly ...

    UPDATE:
    825/1980 stable! Effortless!

    tomorrow 11000 will fall

PS. CinebenchR10 OpenGL Bench scored 5912 on my system!

    Thanks for reply!

If you trust Rivatuner then 1.15V/1.00V. That may explain worst max OC on PRO version and lower power usage!

When I will finish playing with it then I'm going to try XT BIOS

    Congratulations for the fresh acquisition!

I guess the new triple heat-pipe design pays off for a little less GPU temperature.

    Use beta2.
It should recognize your card, because that's basically same as XT.

No! Just Dungeon Siege and if you buy from Overclockers.co.uk like me then also Call of Juarez!

@fellix_bg Thanks! Temperatures are OK even with large overclock like 850/2000 it's still around 71C!
@Kasparz: Thanks for TIP! I will try it shortly.

    For now small update:

That's another blind shot with clocks! I haven't tried higher clocks yet, but this will change now ....

i'm using 2x6pin from my OCZ SxS 600W! Peek power consumption I've measured using Kill'a'Watt was 405W from socket. Keep in mind that my system is quite loaded with SB Audigy2, 3xHDD, wifi, DVB-T, 5xfans, and oter parts in my sig.

Hmm, wonder how the core will do with 1.4v or so, someone needs to get one of these cards and put it under subzero temps! Nice clocks though for air, looking forward to seeing how it performs with 1.2v, maybe we'll get 900MHz core?

Unfortunately I cannot get up to 900MHz in 2D mode and ATITool voltage adjustment seems to not work on my card properly. These are reasons for my final (for today) stable overclock of 860/2070!

As you can see not bad for HD2900Pro

Next week I will try to flash XT BIOS and give it another go!

Oh and my RAM can do 2172MHz stable but I run out of time to get another pass of 3DMark06 . Will save it for next week .

BTW this is all AIR cooled setup....

Nice clocks indeed, with a C2D or C2Q you'd easily break 12k, possibly 13k. Glad to see they didn't put crappy GDDR3 onto the boards

Highest is on my previous post picture - 860/2070 but I could do 860/2172 hopefully. I haven't tried latter yet in that combination but 843/2172 was fine so there is some hope

this new card looks very² promising
it scale better than my previous 2900XT, and it ran cooler than 2900XT due to 1 extra heatpipes
PRO has 3 heatpipes meanwhile the XT only has two

    btw here's my HIS HD2900PRO
    all at stock cooling

Temps was around 76-79C after full (including batch size, shader, etc) 3D Mark06 run.

Perkam it was easiest overclock I ever did! Just loaded RivaTuner and clicked on OC tab, then moved slides to desired frequency and done! It was same up to 860MHz on core and up to 1140MHz on memory. No 2D clock disabling, no CCC and other processes killing! I'm really happy with that card! I tried Oblivion MAX everything @1680x1050 no AA and lowest I could get was 42FPS, average 70FPS !

@wedfighter: Isn't it strange and awesome that these cards clocks so well?
    Awesome results BTW!
