Best Memory timings for X8x0 XT/PE -> HERE

tested all working values (ie ones that didn't cause artifacts) at stock speeds. These are the best I have found, with them i gain over 5 full frames per second in nature at the same clocks vs. stock timings.

    TRCDRD: 7
    TRCDWR: 3
    TRP: 5
    TRAS: 13
    TRRD: 4
    TWR: 6
    TR2W: CL+2
    TW2R: 4
    TR2R: USE TWR RULE
    TR2R: 2
    WR_LATENCY: 1.5
    CAS_LATENCY: 7
    CMD_LATENCY: 0
    STR_LATENCY: WR LATENCY
    REFRESH_RATE: 0x75
    TRFC: 23
I used to have links here demonstrating how awesome I am, but it's been so long that they're not very relevant (and the pictures have disappeared), so I guess I'll have to get working on new stuff.

    Thanks for this eshbach

How do the best timing affect overall speeds? Did they lower your clocks at all?

my max benchable memory clock is unaffected but i do start to get artifacts earlier.

great work ehsbach! thx a lot for sharing
what are the best timings to reach the highest mem speed? maybe loose timings help to reach high enough speeds to make up for the worse latency again?

    Good results....5 frames accounted for.

    tested on my x850xt.

i noticed a very good boost in low detail tests in 01, and a few in high detail. 10fps in nature.

    a+ settings!

The settings gave me a big boost in nature and a bit in drag but I had to clock the memory down from 668 to 650 to be artifact free...

actually 264.5 before timings and 269.6 after timings w/ stock 2ghz cpu and 200mhz ram.

Yes, it starts to artifact earlier, but if you wanted to you might still be able to bench at 668 without it crashing.

Gave me a boost from 661 to 678 in drago low and 276 to 286 in nature (580/600MHz stock cooling and voltage, FX-55@3200MHz). These timings sky rocketed the temp of the memory and gave me artifacts as early as 605MHz. So I did a quick setup of active cooling and managed to match the default timings in max-oc.

    Good job there eshbach!

hm.that's a nice result for tweakering.
What heatsink is good for oc and low temp for X800XL?
ATI silencer 5? zalman any good, not the 80D-HD one.

    for X850 you'll need the .24 version.

I'm getting corruption (straight after applying settings) on my Asus X800XT.

And some of the "optimal" settings listed here seem to be increasing the latency (e.g. for some..value (original) 6 to (supposedly optimal)7)

Does the Asus X800Xt have a different BIOS?

Does you X800XT have 1.6ns or 2.0ns RAM?

i think since XT RAM is rated at 500mhz it may have difficulty doing these timings.

and based on my bios, only one timings goes up and it does actually boost performance setting it higher rather than lower.

I'm curently running my x850xt pe @ stock settings. Will the stock cooler allow me to run those memory settings without artifacts? Or do I need some better cooling?

Edit: I have tried the memory settings and they are kickass!

    Testrig:

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Newcastle (stock)
    DFI NF4 Ultra-D
    G.Skill PC4400Le @ 200mhz 2-2-2-7
    Sapphire X850XT Pe 540/590

    Before the memory tweaks:

    3dmark 2001se: 260**
    3dmark 2003: 132**
    3dmark 2005: 6332

    After the memory tweaks:

    3dmark 2001se: 262**
    3dmark 2003: 134**
    3dmark 2005: 6417

Nice tweaks, but when I scanned for artifacts with Atitool I had artifact @ stock settings, so extra cooling is a must have.

I tried the tweaks on 3d05 and only gained about 45 points... within the margin of error. but atleast you guys are getting good results

btw is there anyway to make it so that ur computer boots with these settings?

    3d01 result?
which card exactly and what bios?

are you sure the timings applied correctly?

    Great performance leap !

But... Damn its hard on the card..
Tested at my "std" settings, the one I use normally... Reached 29960 marks i 01SE, and 288xx before, quiet a leap... But I wanted to test at my "bench" setup, couldnt even apply,... It seems my mem has to go 20 mhz down than topspeed, and then it doesnt pay - Got 200 marks less than without the tweaking - but hey - Just my card, great job mate

    Best regards
