    FX 5800 record in 2001

Well 2005 was released today but I thought I would do some 2001 benching whilst my 2005 download failed or was slow or was both

I've been after the FX5800 2001 record for 7 months and finally today it fell

    Another #1 for xtremesystems .....

Now to install 05 I guess, after another beer

    Regards

    Andy

    Thanks guys

Yes, my bh5 stick failed so no 2-5-2-2 at 250MHz but apart from that all working well now ( ish )

I'm still all air cooled but I will go chilled water on the cpu at some point. I'm still after Dr Jays 5600U record but that looks a bit hard to get ..

Have to say benching 2001 was more interesting than 2005. 2005 should be tacked onto 2003 to give 7 tests ranging from DX7, 2 x DX8 and 4 x DX9.

Now that would be an interesting bench.

I admire how you guys go for record like this, its pretty awesome, I wish I knew how to do that, but I don't know how to do volt mods or anything or any mods at that. I was thinking about modding my 5200fx and trying to get #1 with it, but I think it would be a waste of time, either way

    NICE SCORE ANDY

My 4200 is dead GF4 so I am no longer participating in that class. To be honest the 5800 was a bit of a last hurrah on the old AGP side, I have only got the 4400ti, 5600U and MX440 still working and two of those have funny screens due to poor handling over time

I'm thinking PCIe , nforce 4 and SLi next !! 2 x 6600GT would be a good start ie cheapest option plus single Ati X700XT would be nice ( now I have got into the swing of benching Ati after the 9800 experience ).

Crow, Thanks Go for it with your 5200, the 5200 puts the emphasis on the card mainly and so it is fun to stress it out ( and cheap too if it goes wrong! ). Use the highly optimised 44.03 drivers and a nice big LOD to help the poor card out ....

I already understand the fate of your ti4200, but I also believe in reincineration, in your case, it comes at a small price........hint.......hint.......hint

    Thanks Guys ..again.

Got to say I have to cast off getting more and more cheap video cards and really move on to the PCIe generation. I ran through most of the GF4 line and most of the FX line and now think I will concentrate on 6600 as it seems very overclockable and fairly cheap.

I've been testing the 66.70 driver today and for the 6800 series it is a pretty impressive driver. Not only is is faster in 05 it is also faster in 03 and 2001 !!!!! At least for the 6800 range.

Nvidia have not had a driver like that for a long time, ie fast in all 3dmark benches.

    Regards

    Andy

Way to go Andy! Not just for breaking the record, but for breaking it by nearly 700pts. Incredible score for a 5800.Your hard work paid off.
By the way,....do you have any interest in the 5900xt class??

    Thanks Jay.

Well for a long time I thought about getting the 5900XT as it is a better card than the 5800 of course, but I decided to pay more and go for the 5800 as it was a part of history and I would not be tempted to mod it and would use it for gaming only. Of course I ended up modding it / attempting to mod it / ripping off the heatsink and persecuting the little bugger

Now though I am more interested in the 6600GT. Looks like a 600Mhz clock would be easy and possibly 650Mhz with some extra volts and cool temps. I think TSMC's 0.11 micron process will be ripe for overclocking. Nothing fancy but very overclockable. And relatively cheap, I'd rather spend twice the time benching two cheaper cards than one expensive card, if you see what I mean.

I'll still going to see if I can hit 19k with the 5600U though , keep you honest and maybe at some point go back to the MX440 as I'm fond of that card, it has put up with my best efforts to kill it for years now.

    Regards

    Andy
