Just have to say the XT bios is super! Running 10.5x235MHz atm. Timings are 2-3-3-11 with CPC ON. With CPC off I can run with 2-2-2-11@240MHz but performance suffers bad.

Golias: Use 2-3-3-X timings instead of 2.5-2-2-X.

Edit: Would I gain much with a VDD-mod? Or perhaps some cooling on southbridge... any ideas?

Whats the difference between 3D Fire, Sub-Zero, and Manta Rays XT?

    Got unstability problems

    Hi!

I need some aid for my setup.

Right now I'm using Mantarays XT CPC off. I have tried Black Mantaray CPC on too.

Tried Mantarays XT CPC on also. All games crashed after a while, but 3dmark01, superPI and Prime95 worked...hmm.

I'm not sure if I should use CPC on or off. HalfLife2 fails either way after a while. I get the common memory problem. It seems more stable with CPC off. I haven't tried the other games after flashing to Mantarays XT cpc off. Will do that later.

What is APIC? May turning it off make it more stable? I see tictac talking about a APIC processor driver to install and then turn off APIC in the bios. Where can I get that driver? Anyone got a link?

What is the PCI latency = 128 clck and Ext p2p discard time = 1 ms. What does it do? I saw someone getting poor gaming performance using this.

    My system:
    Abit NF7-s v2.0 1,7v
    AMP XP-M 2400+@2578.5 (11.5x225) 1,90v
    1x512MB CorsairXMS3200 Winbond
    2x256MB TwinMos3200 Windond
    2.0-2-3-11 Dual Channel 2,9v

I know the CPU can take the speed. I used to run 12x217 before I got the Corsair chip using an old stock Bios. Seems like the 512 chip is making it unstable somehow. I know the chip can take the speed too. A friend ran it at 275 once. I want 1GB...it's sweet. I have tried to run at 12x200 too, but it did not help.

    Try these:

-increase your AGP Controller Latency to a higher number (default is 32). try 96 or even 255.
-bumping your Vagp up to 1.6 (if u feel u need it).
-go from 66MHZ to around 69MHZ for AGP Speed.
    -changing value of tW2P & tR2P to 4.
    -upping or lowering vdd.

u can use the nforce2 tweaker to modify the AGP Controller Latency setting, tW2P & tR2P.

    http://indabasement.com/tools

PCI latency (depending on X number) gives devices more (or less ) time to hold on a channel (for X), before it relinquishes it.

you can turn off apic within windows (start->settings->control panel->system->computer->update driver->advanced configuration and power interface)

CPC (Command Per Clock) Off = Command Rate 2T.
CPC (Command Per Clock) On = Command Rate 1T.

for 2x512 or 2x256-1x512, cpc off wil give more breathing room for the ram to expand in fsb (usually) by addressing the banks at a slower rate.

    good luck.

guys try setting STOPGRANT below. it may add to your stability ever so slightly at high fsb:

w./ cpu disconnect disabled in bios ->

    PCI Bus: 0, Device: 0, Function: 0, 6F: 9F (default is 8F for abit), 6E: 01 (0F is default for abit)

thanks to SAE for the above register set

I haven't read the thread, but how does this BIOS stand up to the D23 fire in terms of speed? Also will it let me use the 11 or 11.5x mutli?

Ah screw Prime95 anyway. I've just looped CPU Arithmetic Benchmark, Multi-media Benchmark and Memory Bandwidth benchmark 25 times each (total of 75 times i.e ~ 30 mins running time) and it didn't fail.

I'll have an intense session of Desert Combat later on to confirm 24/7 stability

nah dude.. listen to what prime is telling you.. at least for a few hours.. i know i know.. its a paint in the &*^*%, hehehe, but if it fails within 5 minutes, you have an instability somewhere and it will crash and give errors (when all depends).

    tictac:

data scavenged rate at offset 96, abit default is 30. modifying to 43 or 44 is not possible.

sync mode, there is no register listed on the page.

super bypass, at offset 91, abit default is 33. modifying to 49 or 48 is not possible.

can u relook up your register table for these and reply back when u can?

    thx
