    ASUS K8N-E [vmod] Vdimm/VLDT

I read some of you waiting for this so I decided to post my findings.
Start out with a 22k resistor or a 50k pot at the max. setting when doing the Vmods

    Vdimm mod
Remember to set the Vdimm setting to max. in the bios before doing the mod
Connect a resistor between pin 13 and 11 from the LM324 chip.

    Vldt & Vnf3
I am not 100% sure about these two but they do work. 1.2V standard for LDT and 1.6V standard for the NF3 chip ?
Maybe someone can comment on these voltages.
Just connect pin 13 and/or pin 9 of the LM324 chip through a resistor to ground .

[ sorry for the rather large images ]

    Forgot to say,
You don't need to worry about VTT when doing the Vdimm mod. It's auto tracking on this board.

Nice work there, Smokey and I got the same results for the Vdimm mod.

    A little tech explaination:

I believe somehow the LM324 ( datasheet ) is connected to the RT7132B

By altering the resistance for the LM324 the voltage of the Vin for the RT7132B wil change, leading to a higher / lower Vdimm.

Because the output of the mosfet near those 2 chips reads 3.3V you'll probally need a 3.3V mod too for reaching high memory voltages...

    Thanks YoupY

I believe the RT7132B is only for Dimm termination voltage Vtt according to the datasheet.
That is the reason you don't need a Vtt mod. The RT7132B takes care of it. (auto tracking)
The LM 324 is connected to a little transistor which in turn is connected to the Vdimm mosfet.
The RT7132B only reads the Vdimm voltage on its V-in pin to correct the Vtt voltage when you alter Vdimm.

Did you play with the LDT and NF3 voltage yet ? Would be nice to see some results here.

Let's hope Asus puts 2.8V dimm setting in the next bios. That's all I need really.

    Hello Everyone !
I'm so happy to find this thread here because I got this motherboard, about 2 weeks now ! but I haven't try to play with it yet... though i knew about the Vdimm voltage problem in this board, and I don't know, if ASUS gonna get they ass together oneday, to update the bios for it, and i'm thinking about Vdimm hardmod, at my own risk ! but the true is i don't know nothing about this, and i really need help, can i count it on you guys !?

    Don't worry, it works fine.
Use some SMD grabbers to do a temporary Vdimm mod until ASUS gets their act together with an updated BIOS.

    Hi there !
Thanks for your reponse, I had a question ? once the mod donne, what's the Vdimm voltage ? 2.8v ? 2.9v ? or we can go more +vol thank you for teatching me cause I'm not a Hardmodinator
ps: sorry for my stupidility sommeone have a picture of this board with the Vdimm voltage donne ??

Hi I know these are prob dumb questions but in case...

For the vDIMM can we use any ground point on the MB or we got to use Leg 11 of the chip?

And pin 13 thats the second leg on the top half right? Its a little dark on that place in the pic

    thanks

This particular vdimm mod goes up to 3.1-3.2v depending on your PSU. I personally couldn't get the ground to work correctly (stably at least) so just used the pin.

So all i need is to solder a 22k resistor on those 2 pins and i'm done hmm.

About setting the bios vmem b4 the mod, what will happen if i have to clear the cmos, will it just default to 2.8v with the 2.5v setting and if i set the vmem to 2.8v i get 3.1-3.2 again ?

The Vdimm mod just adds a certain amount of volt to your Vdimm setting in Bios.
Example: If you use a 10K resistor it adds
    0,25V to the bios setting. With a 22K res. it's 0.1 V.

You can use any ground point on the MB.
Make sure it is ground though !!

I like to know is'it not too much 3.1vol or 3.2vol ? for the Vdimm voltage, ?? thank for your time

new asus bios out - k8ne1005

    http://www.asus.com/support/download...05.zip~zaqwedc

question - just to be 110% sure, when i do this mod. i should go to the bios and set my vdimm to the highest volt. shut down the comp, and then solder on the 22k resister to pin 11 & 13 of the LM324 chip right? after soldering the resistor on, what kind of voltage can i expect? if it's too high will i be able to change it in the bios and lower it? or is it stuck at that voltage until i remove the resistor?

Good question there !!! I was going to ask the same question....
Anyway, I was verry dissapointed for the new bios 1005., Nothing have been changed,in there !! look like the same as 1004.bios to me

Actually that new bios allows for higher HTT speeds, i couldn't boot to windows at 290.

Now i'm running prime95 at 299x9 but my cpu is reaching it's limit.

And the only problem i had at 300 was that my nic kept saying the cable was disconnected every other boot(messing with the cable didn't work).

Maybe i should mod that Vnf3 too :banana4:

Ok so This is my first vmod that i am going to do. I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to do a step by step process on what i need to do and exactly what i will need to do it...i have a soldering tool. so what type of resistors and such. I see the pics up there but im not sure if alli have to do is put a resistor between the two pins pointed out on the first picture and im done? or if i need a VR resistor...please be specific..thanks alot guys..

    Hello !
I have sommething better for you, no need to moding your motherboard, no risk to loose your Mb garranty- all you have to do is buy this (OCZ-DDR Booster) http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&articID=227
let me know what do you think about it ?? I was gonna moded my Asus K8N-E Deluxe, but i think i better buy this stuff here it's better

I looked on the compatibility chart for it and i dont' see the k8n-e board..so im not sure about that...plus i kinda wanted to do the soldering...just want to know exactly how to do it so i don't screw anything uo TOO easily

I have a friend who had same as our motherboard witch mean (K8N-E Deluxe)
and he got the DDR Booster too ! and it worked verrygood ! he told me that for rightnow he running his DDRam voltage at 2.95v though his board limited at 2.7v... He can go up to 3.2v but like i said he din't really need to go more than 2.95v for rightnow, maybe later on !

Yes sure you can !No problemo ! it looks bulky like you said, but really it's not ! I found a shop near my place, who have the OCZ ddr booster, for sale
I think nextweek i'm going to buy it
