Should i get this motherboard? My current motherboard can't overclock past 358mhz FSB...

I just bought myself a Tuniq Tower, so i was thinking of getting a new motherboard as well so i can overclock my e6300.

And is using the pencil mod safe?
It looks so easy to do, well it does in the thread about pencil modding posted a few hours ago...

    pencil mod is dead easy

precautions = yes possible RAM incompatibility so you'll need to do research that your RAM will work with it

Nice. After doing the pencil mod, I'm getting 1.320 in everest with 1.3375 set in bios coming from 1.40 in bios and 1.312 in everest. So it was a huge improvement.

i used a file for 512MB modules on my 256MB sticks and well windows wouldn't boot

    so i'm pissed of hahahah
    trying trying trying trying
    NOTHING

well the last resort was to boot with a good stick and IN WINDOWS STICK THE FAULTY MODULES AND REFLASH them

well it worked :dodgy: BUT DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!

soooooo do you see my special edition sticks now

will test on the weekend whether reflashed sticks will work with P5K

if they work i have to reflash my 512MB sticks and my 1GB sticks as well :sweatdrop

    UPDATE!!!!

i think PC6400 on one of the sticks may come in handy as well in case it doesn't like PC5300 stuff

ok so i got to the bottom of the pc4200 ram issue not booting

basiclly it needed spd to have at least pc5300

and now it runs pretty sweet

I have been working with ASUS the past couple of days here in Taiwan. We should have a beta BIOS in a week or so that will open up memory strap changes on this board plus a couple of other surprises. Running DDR2-1333 at 5-5-6-18 with 2.4V at this time without an issue for one.

Yep works fine mine is orthossing now with a new batch CPU (30F and 44G) at 3200mhz (8 x400) and ram at 1000mhz ( intel divider ) 5-5-5-15 2T.

Ram worked fine for 4 hours of Orthos under stock FSB speeds (1066 5-5-5-15 2T 2.2 volts)...

Will see if I can get the same DDR800 speeds with 3-3-3-9 1T as on my Striker...

Few Questions on Pencil Volt Mod

Btw I think, this is pencil vdroop mod point.

    Red:
First let me say thanks to the OP for all the great info.
This really is a fantastic board and so far I'm getting 200mhz better OC than on my DS3 board, I'm up to 3150 @ 9x350 now but I think it can do better, esp with the voltages sorted out. So now that I've played with this a few days I think I see what the dreaded vdroop is. I can see in CPUZ my volts are about .04 lower than I set in BIOS and under load sometimes its as much as .1 lower. It definitely drops a lot under load.

So all I have to do is scratch the mod point in the picture above with a #2 pencil a few times and I'm good to go? Are there any precautions here?

BTW, is CPUZ as good as Everest for checking this? I don't have a DMM so I'll have to make due with software...

And also, while on the topic, what would you guys say is the max volt that I should safely set in the BIOS for an E4300?
    Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah, and just in case anyone wonders, I got this Patriot 6400 RAM and it seems to work fine with the board, though I'm sure not nearly as good as your guys spendy stuff
