Bad placed IHS removing -> Video/explanations

    www.OverClocking-Masters.Com

    Hi all,

a friend (K.J.) get some new E6750es last week, but 2 of 5 tested go over 100°C loaded full stock

so, he send me 5 pcs to test,
3 of them get around 3.6G prime stable at ~1.3v aircooled...
the 2 last can't get over 3.2Ghz prime stable with over 100°C loaded 1.26v :

    I've tested under single stage then -> -40°C evap -> 45°C CPU

i've decided to removing the IHS, but it seems to already been removed before

    right unmoded CPU
    left already moded CPU

    http://maxicrash.free.fr/E6750/decap&nondecap.png

then i've removed the IHS too easy :

i think intel had intentionally removed and replaced the IHS...

i've look more the last E6750, then the IHS wasn't in center

so i've try to remove the HS then :

too easy same as all others

but this one wasn't cleaned... that's why i've think it wasn't been already moded...

It looks as if the ihs is suspended above the chip and rest in the TIM. I wondered about this and was only a few days ago thinking of doing the same thing. I did not ever remember seeing anyone else do it though and was scared. I did'nt know if there was two cores/chips or exactly what was under there. Thanks for showing.

Agreed. Intel doesn't lap like that! I'm also very skepticle of that video showing the IHS coming off in two seconds.

looks like a case of cpu std. it's what happens when cpu's get around the way that they do, especially probably es models.

    still very interesting though
