Agreed that it will release at $299?
I was hoping for a more reasonable
$250 and eventual drop to $199.

I am betting those prices won't be around for quite some time.

    8800GTS 640M is 3% faster than the 8800GTS 320M

    8800GTS 640M @ 670/1940 has the same performance as the 8800GTX @ stock (575/1800)

    SO

    $598 (2 x $299) 8800GTS 320M SLI @ 690/1980

    equal

    $ 1298 (2 x $649)8800GTX SLI @ stock

    at least 8800GTS 320M SLI ($598) >>> single 8800GTX ($649) in any Dx10 game @ 2038x1536 8xAA 16xAF

If 8800 GTS 320M at that price range

no one will buy these cards

    8600U 256MB 192bit? 64ps $229
    8600GT 256MB 128bit? 48ps $179

the will +$20 or $ 50 and go for the 320bit 8800GTS ones

You expect SLI'd GTS's to keep up with a GTX at 2038x1536 with max AA and AF with ALL of 320megs of memory? good luck dude.

Doom3 came out how many years ago and still would max that available memory? If you're right I'd love to see benchmarks.

But doesn't SLI require that both cards memory load the same textures if they are rendering portions of the screen simulataneously? Either way I can't imagine the 320MB taking that big of a hit considering how we have 256MB cards that do just fine. The 320MB will be a great "budget" card compared to the GTX and 640GTS. I like the 3d06 in the software bundle, hopefully this package will land below $350.

    I just guess

6800 Ultra SLI outpeform a single 7800GTX beforce

not sure about in such high res like 2048x1536 all max

but 8800GTS 320M SLI should be faster than single 8800GTX @ 1600x1200 all max

Um...nope. Available amount of memory does not double, as the amount used also doubles.

Quite right. Video cards in SLI have duplicated memory on each card. That's right, you don't have 1.2 gigs of video processing power. You have just 640Megs(8800gtx).

Off topic I know, but am I the only one who thinks those results look a little borked? 300% increase using SLI?
