Unless u're not running async mem dividers, 965 @ high fsb doesn't need much vmch.

Hey guys, I bought some silicone in a tube (I presume this is what is referred to liquid silicone) and I am about to apply it to that coil thing that is making the buzzing/squealing sound.

I have a question, though, how should I wait before using the machine again? On the tube it says that it stops being sticky after 1 hour and it "hardens" all the way through in 2-5 days. So, do I have to wait 1 hour, 2-5 days or 10 minutes?

Also the CD is labeled as COMMANDO MOTHERBOARD: NVidia nForce 680i SLI Support DVD!!

So, this means I do not have any of the software that came with the motherboard......some are on Asus website, but most of it isn't!!

Anyone willing to burn me a copy of the CD and send it to me...I can send a few dollars through Paypal.

    Thanks

I would wait a few hours anyway but not necessary to wait days.

I never tried quite that high, but 450 4:5 was easy to achieve straight boot to windows and didn't need much work if that helps at all. The voltages could more than likely be set much lower than in this screeny too.

We are going to see more and more issues like this due to RoHS. Especially the lead free solder provisions of RoHS reduce reliability for far to may reasons to cover here. The key three reasons however are much higher eutectic point (25 to 30 degrees C higher in the wave soldering unit), Far lower ductility and wetting due to the much higher tin content and for long term reliability, dendritic grouth which will cause shorts in hi density circuits eventually. Also , all lead free solders are not the same with greatly differing properties as well as cost.
This is not a soldering issue, the Vmch and Vdimm coils are not tightened/glued correctly, that's all. I agree the RoHS solder is inferior from many aspects, but this has nothing to do with soldering but with the low quality of those two coils.

I don't know how much further it would go, that run was just part of a battery of tests I was running at 3.6GHz and like I say it didn't need any special treatment to get there. I've been meaning to get round to checking just how far it can go, but something always comes up and I get sidetracked
