Just to get rid of any confusion. The xx50 series is to be used with the upcoming bearlake chipsets and ICH9 with 1333FSB support. I guess we gonna see alot of P965 boards get support tho, just not from Intel. The Bearlake-X (975X replacement) will also use DDR3-1333. So we are back to singlechannel memory again.

Why is it stupid? The only reason we use dualchannel today is due to the memory not being fast enough. Today you could actually use DDR2-1066 if running stock speed.

When will "bearlake" be released. Haha, there is always something better around the corner.

975X is good, but it just doesn't seem like a "flagship" chipset should be. I would think "Bearlake" would no doubt have SLI support rather than Crossfire (which would be nice also)\

P.S. Apparently the E6800 will no longer be an extreme edition CPU and instead they will have a Extreme edition 6900 to replace it (essentially they are the same CPUs. It's just the 6900 has the multiplier of the extreme 6800 set on "12" from the factory. Lame huh?)

Man thats is nice. The more I think about Intels Bearlake chipset. The more Appealing Wolf/York cpu's are becoming to myself. My wifes brother inlaw has promised me a Wolf/York ES cpu. He also told me that 4.5 GHz on water will be easy for these cpu's. I will wait to see some results before I decide which cpu to get Wolf/York. But a Bearlake Chipset with DDR3 at 400 bus speed at DDDR 800 with FSBof 1600 @ 1:1 should be the King until Nehalem arrives.

I have a question on the AT article. I have seen or thought I seen an Article that states that Q-core will be coming out @ 3.0 GHz yet AT article says 2.66 will remain Intels top offering.
I would link to said article but I am not allowed to do this link.

Slightly OT, but, does anyone know will the wolf/york chips will work on todays 965 boards with just a bios upgrade or will we need a new revision of the same boards and therefore buy a knew board? (in that case "bearlake" would be a better choice, I know)

This makes no sense to me. Intel procs quad-pump data,
making the true bus 333Mhz. DDR2 667 runs at 333Mhz.
Wouldn't 667 be the perfect RAM to reach no bottleneck?

If you can explain this, please PM me as I may not remember
to check this thread when I get home.

Yes you could and 2*1066 is a lot more than 1*1333. :/ Paying more for having less is not a good idea, right?

I have read the whole thread, but there is no confirmation as to if this ES CPU is unlocked.

Can somebody with an E6850es CPU confirm if multi's above 9 are useable or not with E6850es CPU's?

    Thanks very much

Interesting it works on BX1 and not BX2, I have one rev 304 here that I may try, but the P5W-DH seems to like it anyway. I just hate the RAID implementation on that board.

Got it clocking at 416x9 on air 1.3875v so far. Still testing.

I tried e6850es on DFI rd600. At same settings, sometimes it boots, sometimes it doesn't. Also, sometimes it doesn't boot at default settings.

When Mercedes brought their C111 to Talledega years ago and blew away the closed course record did it count? Yes..
That was a "factory" car and a "one of" that no one could buy and was never sold.
Records are records and that is a fact so get over it.
