    Exclamation DFI nF590SLI-T2R/G OFFICIALLY CANCELLED

    Source

We had a little chat with DFI this evening and they informed us that their highly anticipated LANParty UT nF590SLI-T2R/G motherboard has been officially canceled. It seems that DFI had decided to discontinue the motherboard before it was even released. Apparently, DFI is not very happy with NVIDIA's C19 chipset which resulted in poor overclocking when implemented on any motherboard. If you didn't know, the DFI LANParty UT nF590SLI-T2R/G motherboard is based on the nF590 Intel Edition C19 chipset which officially supports Intel Core 2 Duo processors and Quad SLI. The motherboard is one of the meanest looking socket LGA775 motherboards in the market and it also comes with a high-end digital PWM.

Nevertheless, DFI is currently working on the newer NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI Intel Edition C55 chipset and the motherboard has been rescheduled from 2007 to Q4 2006. We can expect a brand new DFI Intel Edition SLI motherboard within 2 to 3 months time and we were told that DFI is putting their main focus in this project.

see this is why i like DFI.
unlike everyone else, they are stepping up to the plate and saying . "Yes our motherboard is a pile of crap, so instead of sending it into the retail market and making everyone hate us,, and spending countless man hours and dollars on rma's and tech support we are just going to cancel it. and wait for the better chipset"

my hats off to DFI for standing up and admitting that they are not happy with their product!

sure it sucks but wouldnt all of you rather have a killer DFI than a dead DFI..?

2 to 3 months, dam I'm tired of waiting. This is the only thing holding me up from buying a e6600. Oh well maybe the c55 will be a killer chipset, I can only hope.

Does the c55 chipset show good potential to be 450+ fsb overclocker, or is that much known yet?

tbh all this board needed was unlocked upper multies on x6800 and a vcore mod (might have been impossible with digital pwm but bios might also have fixed it)
then it could have been the quad-sli champion till something better came out.
still it would never have done 400fsb which is essential for lower C2D.
the c51 chipset on my AM2 lanparty also seems to max at 333fsb but without any voltage boost so something else might be holding me back and not the c51 nf5.

If it gives them more resources to work on a better bios for my DFI 975x mobo then by all means cancel every other project. Kidding ... sort of ... still respect to DFI for picking their projects carefully.

That's nonsens ... the main reason should be that the CHIPSET just won't OC high enough and DFI plain NEEDS a killer OC board to please the crowd ...

I don't think the Boards would have been carp/problematic/dying but just bad at OC - just workingh well @ stock speeds is unacceptable for a Lanparty Brand Mobo. A medicore board would be bad for DFIs reputation ...

i must say i agree with lestat. i feel the same way about DFI admitting their board wasn't the greatest..better have it that way than falsely announcing promises of great overclocks. more respect to DFI for that move. that took a lot of courage to cancel it!

i think dfi should have just released it as an infinity then save lanparty for the c55 chipset. i really do hope the new ut 590 is a 400+ fsb board since i like nvidia chipset more.

ps atleast 3 pci slots please in addition to the 3 pci-e slots

i agree i would exspect dfi to just use this already designed pcb if the c55 is pin compatible with the c19. that way it makes much more sense, they dont really loose any of the money they put into designing the board.
