The Vmem mod is a 100K, 25 turn trimmer and will kick the Vmem up from 2.080 stock to 2.165 at the Windows desktop when set at 100K.
The Vcore trimmer is 200 ohms and gives a .050 bump up in Vcore at the Window Desktop when set at 200 ohms

about the vmod what kind of volts are you expecting to get from this?
I have tried the gpu volt mod on a few cards and it does allow for higher clocks. I went from 540 to about 600 on one card and that is on air. I ended up around 1.58 volts and I am sure it would go higher if the card had better cooling.Originally Posted by freecableguy

no, on the sense lines, i mean. there are 3 vid pins, and three sense pins connected, as well as 3 voltages...2d, low power 3d, and high power 3d. i'm saying mod the sense line for the corresponding VID. i don't know much about power design, but there is a place ther that can be modded just before the sense pin.
but nevermind i understand why. vid5 and 0 are constant. why bios mod does not work, i guess.

Actually there are 6 VID pins. The way NV has the VID's setup to switch you can't get 1.500 using bios. Only 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4.Originally Posted by cadaveca

my brother fried his 7800 because of this thread. he should of done more research before he did it, as this thread is limited in the helpfull department.
Any volt mod is done at your own risk. I have done this exact volt mod on four of my cards and I still havent fried one. You must have adequate cooling on the whole card expecially the voltage regs. If you set the trimmer all the way to the max resistance you will get about 1.49v on the gpu the less resistance you dial in the more voltage you will get. I have ran my cards up to 1.65 volts but after I am done my tests I always back it all the way off to 1.5volt. The cards dont seem to like booting when the voltage is too high. The first time I got up to 1.58volts and I had to restart for other reasons I forgot to back off the voltage and it locked up as soon as the driver loaded and the voltage went up to 1.58 volts. SO if you think you want to overclock your card dont do the volt mod unless you are willing to fry it and void your warranty.

First of all i'm a complete noob in this area.. so please don't shoot me..
I don't know exactly which voltages the card sets.. assuming it's 1.1 1.2 1.3 and 1.4 volt
Cutting vid 1 and 2 would cause it to set 1.55 volts whenever it tries to use 1.4v
and when it tries to use 1.1v the voltage would be 1.15. For 1.2v and 1.3v the voltage would be 1.350v.
Anybody got a clue if what i'm thinking could be correct???

iirc the pc itself has an I2C bus, maybe hooking it up together will allow the utility you can download from intersil's site to communicate with the chip. The pins for the I2C bus should be SDA (pin 44) and SCL (pin 45).

Now i just gotta find where the I2C pins spring from on the motherboard... Nforce4 chipset? Even if i knew that.. it's a BGA package.. On the Ultra-D what chip(s) does the I2C bus run to?

well i did tell him not to vmod it untill there is a guide on how to do it successfull. i am going to do my card as soon as i have enough knollege, still waiting for some one to make a guide some where on the net. over at extreme resources they know how to do the volt mod but won't tell any one.Originally Posted by ViperJohn
