Sonoma=good.
"Dothan" is the B1 stepping 400fsb part. Sonoma is the revised C0 stepping 533fsb part. Dothan won't OC past 165 fsb.... Sonoma will go 100mHz higher than that on the fsb.

I have P4P800-X and I think to buy Celeron-M,but this mobo is not supported.
Can I use bios from another mobo ?
than all fsb533 cpus are sonoma???
My Dothan hits 267 Charlie. I know I'm nitpicking.
Only the stupidest humans believe that the dogma of relative filth is a defense.

It looks like I misunderstood Charlie's message that I quoted. I thought he said his is a Sonoma (C0), but it is a Dothan (B1). I am 99% sure (who on eBay can you really trust?) mine is a C0, but I won't find out until tomorrow or Tuesday when it comes in the mail.Originally Posted by vanovich
So, to officially answer your question, Dothan's (B1) are a nice chip and still o/cable, but the Sonoma (C0) is the better revision. (That is if I understand this correctly)
Is it C1 or C0?
Are all ES chips B1?
This is my chip here
Need to get another adapter, bent pins on the one I recieved.
Yes I know I can straighten them. I'd rather not risk a processor that I spent an entire paycheck on, with it. Plus the whole RMA process takes too long and is a bit of a hassle. Quicker to order a new one.
Need a power supply and some better ram. That Value Select stuff won't do.
B1s are 400mhz FSB and C0s are 533mhz FSB. Click here to see.Originally Posted by Ychocky
Cool I was looking at some posts and wondering, "where are these C1's?"Originally Posted by PseudosaneX
Yes, BASICALLY all the old Dothan (400fsb) are B1
And newer 533fsb Sonoma's are C0
My 730ES is an exception, it is a B1 chip with 533fsb operation enabled on-die... but it's still a B1 die, and OC's like one
It was made just for testing and validation on early and pre-production 533fsb chipsets.

what would be an A2??
Please, where is the glue? This thread needs to be stickyfied!

So what is the sSpec for that chip? This way people can stay away from it!Originally Posted by charlie
I think you should add this picture in the guide on the first page ...about P4C800 mods .It is for Vcore mod.....
It's a 730ES Engineering Sample... not something most are likely to run across....Originally Posted by PseudosaneX
