Finally, a fast and 12 hour Prime Stable rig. I booted at 2.8GHz, but those OCs don't count. This OC plays HL2 for hours on end. I'm quite happy. I also attached my memory timings.

This Crucial Ballistix is some great stuff, who needs TCCD???

No it's not...I'm showing 280 1:1 in BIOS, CPUZ shows 280. Sandra shows 280...My memory is at 280.

But I thought running with half-multis changed the ram speed?

I think it's a bunch of BS...However...if I go down to 10xCPU and 270FSB, I should get more bandwidth in Sandra...so lets see...

Even better...Lets simply drop my multi down to 9 and see if the bandwidth changes...BRB...

Well...consider that another myth busted...There is no x.5 multi bug.

I just ran an experiment...You kids at home can follow along as well!

    Ok...running 9.5 x 280...Sandra bandwidth @ 7523/7444

    Drop to 9.0 x280...Sandra bandwidth @ 7382/7302

Since I went to a "solid" cpu multi by going to 9, I should of gained pure memory bandwidth because of the "multi-bug" robbing me of about 14MHz...however I not only didn't gain badwidth...I lost even more.

    Possibly

Nah, but wanna learn to speak English like an Irish fellow... for example like Felix from "The 51 State..."

A little update, GB K8NS Uultra-939.... more voltage (up to 1.7V) won't help, I think the board is to its MAX... need to find a Mobo, that will run @350FSB and more, cuz that now is only AIR.... the CPU is still waiting for the Vapochill LS

Stay away to winnie 3200+ 0434, this code is really suck. I tried 2 of them and both cannot stable @ 2.4G vcore 1.6.

Yeah, the first cpu i had was a 0434 3000+ and it took 1.7v to get 2400mhz. I think thats the first week production, since i got my cpu when they were released. very poor clockers.

    0434 wasn't the first week of 3200+ because I got a 0433SPMW :P
Might be first of 3000+ but I doubt it.

hey, what are the max temps you guys are reaching for winchesters?

i'm using 1.65v on air.... with an xp-90 and vantec stealth, EVEREST home edition says the cpu is at like 50 deg on full load. is that too high for winchesters? my old barton xp could take it up to almost 60 deg :P

i'm wondering if thats preventing a stable overclock, temps being too high? are winchesters more sensitive? should the max voltage only be like 1.5v or something?

i can't seem to anything stable above 2.3 ghz, and i know my memory can hold up to almost 280 mhz. its rather sad to have the cpu hold the system back.

Ey guys, I "just" joined the forum and am about to buy an A64 system (3500+ Winchester)

I have WC and want to ask what's about the max voltage/temp for these processors.....tried searching but nothing came up....something in the range of 1.7 Vcore?

    Thanks...

Its the luck of the draw to get hold of a CPU, RAM and MOBO that can OC well. I don't really trust the temps on the boards anymore. They are whacked!! Wonder how they even come up with the figures?!?

U kinda know that you've got a bad chip if u require alot of vcore to hit high overclocks. Most averagely 'good' OCable chips can hit 2.5Ghz to 2.6Ghz easy with 1.5vCore.

Why not try to sell it off and get the more 'tried and tested' batches of winchesters. Namely the 0433XPMW, 0440MPMW and 0441TPMW. 0433XPMW being the best so far but almost impossible to find now.

It would be criminal to let the rest of your GODLY componets go to waste just because of a bad CPU!!

TodB:you sure the stepping of your 3000+ is correct?? I think u should get a 3500+ if u are gonna put it in a Vaporchill LS. The mobo is just gonna hold u back no matter how hard u push.

The 0433 are indeed the best of the lot in general .. damn ... wish I knew abt it earlier.. and DOUBLE DAMN!! Your 0433SPMW is GODLY!!

Most ppl I've read abt that are on good air / water cooling are keeping it below 1.7v. As for temps... I'm not too sure. From my testing, my starts to get unstable when my heatsink is too hot to touch. I'd say that would be abt 60 degC. Anyway .. if u can't keep your chip below 55degC ... u are gonna get stability problems anyway. Just a guess on the temps... Anyone care to help??

Also ... another observation. Most ppl who put their chips under sub-zero cooling only required low voltges (1.5v - 1.6v) to hit the chips maximum OC potential. Correct me if I'm wrong pls ..
