Temps are fine for the stocker cooler. 38-43c. I'm going to try a better manufactured hsf setup early next week and then play with the vcore. If I can get 2.5 stable on air out of this chip I'll be really happy...and I think it may be possible (the sky is the limit of course...no need to stop until the chip stops me!! )

    New Vcore-mod for AOpen i855GMEm-LFS

    Hi everyone, I'm k-ohashi = kyosen
Here are my new results of i855GMEm-LFS over-clocking.
Now nearly 1.7V is available for Vcore.
I could run the system at over 2.9G by natural air-cooling(17degree centigrade).

    Vcore-mod by VID changing

That's magnificent, Kyosen! You are truly extreme!

If some manufacturer would open up their eyes and release board with some serious voltage adjustments!

Maybe a stupid question, but is any P4 cooler socket compatible? I read that it was the same bracket.

Wonderful overclocks from TAM and kyosen.
    Congratulations for both.
That two SuperPi's are amazing, 23 and 26 sec are just spectacular times.
We want to see more and more results, precisely a 3dmark score is possible.
I know that with LN2 that is very difficult but just go for it.

Again, more congratulations for you both.

Intel (at last) has a major response for AMD's FX in the Dothan's(Alviso,etc...)

That is the definition of extreme !!! OMG Kyosen keep up the good work !!!

I just have one question, dont the mobos you guys are using have PCI/AGP locks. Cause I imagine your overclocking + XT PE would ROCK THE ORB !!!

Though I imagine even the ordinary Dothan desktop system (with i855 mobo and 745 proc) would cost WAY too much for the normal consumer, unlike a mobile 2500 or something.

For some reasons, ATI (or its driver) is not working all that well at AGP 4x with AOpen board. I got 23,465 points of 3DMark2001 with both 755 and X800 XT PE were stock. Check here: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8228933. Plus, I got random Windows boot problem where my system will be stuck at Windows splash screen forever especially after a failed overclocking. I have tried several versions of ATI Catalyst. nVidia is working flawessly though.

Do you have more detailed pictures of the vcore mod?

Is there a other simpler mod available?

    IS a vdimm mod available?

    Hey, kyosen!
Is there any trick to get the fsb that high?
I'm stuck with my DFI at 145Mhz.

    Already did some voltmods
    - vagp/chipset to 1.7V
    - vddr to 2.9V
    - VID4-Pinmod for 1.6Vcore

...still no success in gettig it any higher.
Even at 1:1 with my Infineon PC2700 6-A ram which is good for FSB220+ at fastest timings there's no go -> errors out in SuperPi (test 5) or sudden reset in Windows.
This happens no matter what multi i have set in bios.
12*145 crashes as well as 17*145.

    Hi,

    Mathias-K,

2mm or so thickness metal plate must be inserted
    between P4 cooler and core.

I expect that you are using Radeon, don't you?
As H2OGun mentioned it, nVIDIA's VGA is more robust
than ATI's at i855GME mb, I also think so.
In my worst case, the system goes unstable at mere 135MHz
    with Radeon9200 VGA.

Kyosen does have a simpler mod. Check out his BBS mentioned in his previous posting and you'll see some mod pictures. I've tried it myself and it only gave me around 1.45v vCore max.

I've also tried his latest VID deceiving mod posted above. It did work. I got vCore all the way up to 1.708v even though BIOS reported lower numbers. IMHO, this mod is really the way to go for this AOpen board.

kyosen or anyother with the AOpen board,

Could you answer a few questions regarding the AOpen i855 board?

Whats the easiest way to get 1.7v of vcore? Also can I use a S478 waterblock on the AOpen board?

Is it possible to connect the vdimm directly to the psu's 3.3v rail?

Hope you have the time to answer my questions.

I think the easiest way to adjust vcore is to perform the modification pictured a couple posts above...by Kyosen. You can use a s478 wb but you've got to be very careful because it's pretty easy to chip the core. My solution was to use a heatspreader from a s478 chip and put it over the P-M core.

Interesting. I have the exact same problem w/ both the DFI & AOpen boards. RAM I am using PQI Turbo 3200 TCCD -431F, 815 Brainpower boards (512MB ea.). And video card is 6800LE. I've tried with timings all the way to 1:1 as well..with a 1.6G & a 1.7G. Same result...On occasion I can get into windows above 145 but it either freezes, usually right after arriving into Windows.

and although I havent tried using the booster on the DFI, I tried in on the AOpen w/o any success ;-/

VIO and VDDR Mod on AOpen i855GMEs-LFS ???

    Hi,

I am very impressed about the results. 3,3 ghz is really a nice clock for a Dothan Core.

I'm going to overclock a Pentium M 745 (1,8) processor with a combo of TEC (maybe 2 cascades) module and the Thermalright XP-120 cooler. V-Core Mod is no problem (i will use the VID4 Mod), but i cannot find detailed pictures and tutorials about VDDR and VIO chipset voltage mods for the AOpen Board.

Can anybody post some detailed pictures from VDDR and chipset voltage mods on this board?

    Thanks alot,

    BitpowerPM
