I read that Afterburner screws up if you are using Crossfire and doesn't really work. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    Hey Saud,

I have 2x HD5870 running in crossfire without trouble in both Windows 7 and Windows Vista. The only OS that gave me some grief was XP.

Flashing both cards with the unlocked Asus bios solved a lot of rather strange problems with overclocking and AfterBurner, like locking up and crashing.

The issue you are seeing is caused by having 2 programs access the v-regs on the card at the same time. If you are monitoring voltages in more than one program at a time the chips go mental.

Usual culprits are some combination of Afterburner, GPU-Z and Everest. More info is available in the Afterburner documentation and on the Afterburner forum at guru3d.

hay man, im actually using two reference Sapphire 5870 and everything at stock values, and after installing Afterburner software i noticed this bump in vgpu and vrm on the second gpu ! and as a result the temps went up.
ill flash the ASUS bios ASAP and what happens, thanks for your help Zeus .

thanks, but it was only after i noticed this voltage bump on Afterburner app i opened Everest to confirm the values.

    Pm send.

The Sapphire cards should be reference cards unless they Vapor-X cards afaik, you should be able to flash them with the Asus bios.

Dont take it the wrong way, but I'm not convinced. I have seen this EXACT issue a number of times and it has always turned out to be multiple programs accessing the vregs at the same time. Perhaps try disabling voltage monitoring in afterburner settings (just use it to set the voltage) and then use GPU-Z to check the voltages?

then please expanse the high temps on gpu2 diode (dispIO), (memIO), (shader) and vrm !! look at the first screen shot.

Everest has issues with the 5000 series cards. They know and are hoping to fix it.
