Can I use a mATX board in an ATX case?

Just wondering because I haven't dealt with any micro systems in the past. I have to replace a mobo in a POS E-Machine for a friend and was told they use different power supplies so was going to give her a case and enermax of mine.

MicroATX boards fit inside an ATX case just fine.

thx man. Would you recommend the switch yourself?

oh and you think I could get by without reformatting the HD since i'm just swapping in the same board?

I have dealt with these kind of systems in the past, they will fit in to a atx case. Also, they use waterdown psus, some times the are no fan psu and only 150wats powering a P4

this one is an xp2000+ w/512mb of pc2100. I added a ti4600 to replace the on-board video since she used to game a bit.

The damn case has no case fans what's so ever so the ge4 would make it hella hot inside. I guess switching to the new case will work better.

*shudder* ... E-Machines... I thought Gateway owned that motley crue now anyway... though that's outta the frying pan and into the fire.

Regarding the switch - yes, do it. Regarding the hard disc - it's the same board so there is no reason whatsoever to reformat.

actually I found out the mobo is different being it's the L7VMM2 and not the L7VMM, but shouldn't be too much different just newer model.
