    Another Ci7 965 at 5+ghz

Did a quick dice run the other night with a pisspoor makeshift mounting kit. Just couldn't wait any longer
Got some nice results, but didn't have enough DI or time to do much, just a quick validate and SPi32M

    The Setup:

    Retail Core i7 965 EE batch 3836A384
ASUS Rampage II Extreme BIOS 0705
    Kingston HyperX 3x1gb 2000mhz CL9
EVGA 9800gx2 (didn't get aorund to 3d yet!)
    Silverstone OP1000

First off the good stuff. Didn't do much fiddling for the best qpi, and the multi adjustment on 'TweakIt' stopped working for some reason. The chip has more room to go but this is a nice start.

But SPi32M is now my favourite bench. Nelly kills it! Could've run the ram at 2200, but didn't have enough time for another run. I'm positive i could run at 5ghz.

    not too shabby though.

That's all for now. More to come, like some wPrime action , when I get a legit mounting kit (duniek shipped it out fast, so should be in next week). I'll hope to get SPi32M at 5ghz / 2200mhz ram / 4.6 uclk (is that uclk reasonable? should i be shooting higher given i top out at 4.3 on air?)

This chip got runaway amp at >1.7v, crash at splash screen. Thermocouple wasn't working, but had no CB/CBB.

    Updates soon.

Thanks all. Hopefully i'll get some more time this week, see how well these dimms scale

    @Pt1t
Based on what I've seen i think it's a hit and miss kind of thing? But it looked like only clocks in the neighborhood of 5ghz were getting rejected. Anyways, looks like they might've fixed something since then.

    Update: ehh

    False alarm guys.

We ran into setback after setback, from mounting hardware problems to condensation to the weirdest coldbugs ever. These chips behave pretty erratically under LN2. We benched for about 12hrs straight and didn't get too many satisfying results.

It wasn't nearly the epic session we were hoping for, but we did get some decent numbers, and I'll post them for what it's worth.

First came wPrime. I know this chip can do 5.1 on this bench, and we wanted to come back to it, but ran out of time.

1024 is really a , and really only a brief preview of how much of an ln2 hog nehalem is.

Should have redone most benches with at least 4.8, but we wanted to get to XP and SPi. Which actually never happened. We had issues with corrupted drives. So forgoing CW I started clocking on XP. The only result I have from that is a 5.3ghz validate which is somewhere on the hdd (it was 745 and my flight left at 850).

But I'll be heading back on the 24th, hopefully gtx 295 in hand, for another more successful session. and now that ifinally have a mounting kit, DICE until then.
