Amd 690g & Asus M2a-vm Hdmi

I'm going to buy this motherboard:

Is it good? Are there better choices?


I've read somewhere that AMD is going to release in January the 780G, wich will substitute the 690G. Is this true? Should I wait for 780G?

Ehh better choices for what? You haven't said what you're gonna use it for. If it's purely for HDMI playback then you'll be fine with that. It'll also handle light gaming with the X1250 integrated vga. A higher spec card could be used if you wanna play some heavier more modern games. As for overclocking options I am afraid I am unsure.

The 780G is for AM2+ cpu's afaik and therefore won't entirely replace 690G.

AMD are releasing the SB700 for AMD 7** chipsets in the next month or so, which will replace the SB600 on all AMD 7** chipsets....perhaps this is what you are thinking of?

I want a Micro-ATX motherboard for a Media Center / Server.

The CPU will be a X2 BE-2350.

I researched em when I was mobo hunting. Bad overclocking, buggy bios. Poor support.
Fine if you flash to a good bios and just use it at stock.
2.1 max memory voltage though, so dont buy the patriot 4-4-4- for 37 dollars etc..
