    Upgrade (RAM or Motherboard)

    I'm currently using a
    e6400 C2D 2.88ghz 24/7. wouldnt mind to be faster.
    Asus P5B-E motherboard
    Wintec Ampx ddr2 667 2x1gb 5-5-5-15 1.8v

    im looking to spend around 200. Ive had the FSB up to 425 before i think the ram couldnt do it anymore. Looking to get better ram or better mobo. which should i go with and any suggestions. or any way to get both for around that price. motherboard can only do up to 2.1v on the memory.

    the ram is budget ram, so if you can get some crucial ballistix, cheap and fast. The mobo should be okay. but if you can get a P35 Motherboard like the IP35-E, or the Ip35 Pro and/or DFI P35 DK mobo, all great overclocking boards

    Id go with ram to your being held back by ram not the motherboard right now. Get some new ram and see how high you can go I run my ip35-e at 412x9 to make it around 3700mhz. It will do 480 but my pc6400 ram not so happy with those clocks.
    CPU=i7 930 4400 1.408 VCORE
    RAM=F3-12800CL7T-6GBPI
    MOTHERBOARD=ASUS P6X58D-E
    CPU-BLOCK=RASA CPU BLOCK
    GPU-BLOCK=EK-FC5870 V1
    PUMP=MCP655-B IN XSPC RES
    RAD=RX360
    VIDEO CARD=ASUS HD 5870 1025/1300 1.20

    the only reason im wondering about the motherboard is because it can only go to 2.1 vdimm. Alot of the faster memory is looking at 2.2v.
