The temps you see very well could be real. That is where I was before I lapped the IHS. Now it is running quite cool.
The temps can't be correct because my old chip would be loaded at around 50C and the IHS would be 40C. This chip A) loaded is reporting 62C and the IHS is actually 34C and B) it probably wouldn't be stable at this temp and voltage if the temp were correct. I guess the IHS could be making poor contact with the die but i lapped the IHS and I know the IHS is making great contact with the waterblock.

On a different note, you seem to be seeing similar volt/mhz correlations I am. I am also priming at 3.8ghz with around 1.37-1.38V. Let me what you get your chip up to.

I had an L629B953, tested for some1.. it kinda sucked.
It did worse than my L626A154.

    The L629B did 3.6 Ghz Stable @ 1.46 vCore, while my L626A, did 3.6 Ghz Stable @ 1.42 vCore.

Temps for the L629B were 46C under load, while the L626A were around 41C under load. This with a Apogee + MCR220 + MCP655...
    Not lapped.

Im still gradually testing stability with this one, but here is the highest clock I could reach with out it crashing. this is using a Thermalright 120 extreme, with cool ambient temps.

By gradually testing do you mean every day stability without running Orthos cause it crashes immediately? Seriously though, I'd love to see 8 hours Orthos at that speed on air!!

Quick addition to the thread- I'm working with my L644G425 now, and so far it doesn't seem too bad. It passed 12 hours of Orthos blend priority 9 last night, at 3.2ghz, 1.37v bios (more like 1.35v real- stock voltage is 1.35v.) I'm testing 3.3ghz now at the same voltage. I'm aircooled with a Ultra-120 Extreme, load temps are currently ~40c. Wish me luck with this thing

Right now the L629B is 8+ hours orthos blend stable at 3.71GHz with 1.4vcore. I did get one 4.1GHz 32M Pi run with 1.52vore but I am sure it is not orthos stable. Had to lap it as usual. Once that was done the temps became very manageable under water.

I've been working with my L644G425 for at least the past two weeks, I've never had a setup which was so difficult to get orthos stable before. So far it is (hopefully) stable at 3.4ghz with 1.48v...this thing is a glutton for voltage, and a miser with the mhz At least it isn't faring as badly as some of the other 44G's I read about. I think most of my stability problems at this point is getting the voltage *just right* for my ram, it seems to picky as all heck. On the other hand, my QuadGT could do 400fsb without a single voltage increase, lol.

I'm seeing if 8x425 is any more stable than 9x378. On the latter, I was trying to run my ram 4:5 so I didn't have to underclock it, and it seems that a lot of my stability frustrations were hanging on that wish of mine. Hopefully 8x425, 1:1, will be stable, because I'm actually getting sort of tired messing with it.

Mine did not appear to be and gets great temps at 1.425v. 52 to 54c loaded at 395x9. This clock was way to easy but now its in the wifes rig so no more playing.
