as is though, it's also possible for memory controllers with DDR3 support to host DDR2 modules(not simultaneously though)

and come on 1.5V to 1.8V it's not like it's going to fry the RAM if a switch happened... it's like Running DDR2 @2.15V or DDR1 @ 3.1V it's not good for it but it's not like it's instant death. A lot fo peopel here run in excess of those value 24/7 without issue.(also heat is less of an issue with DDR3 so ehh)
No, that was nothing more but a rumour like so many other false ones.

And yes, 1.5 vs 1.8V is a huge issue. Just because we OC doesnt mean the 99% of the rest does. And it doesnt mean the rest of the memory (Specially early memory) can. Yes some run without issue, but some run with issue. Overvolting is a very bad thing, specially the lower process you go.

So dont tell me a industry standard should rely on it to be able to overvolt.

typically the people who exchange RAM or build systems are also the people who know how to change the voltage in BIOS.

Yes, I can just see Dell factory workers busy setting voltage each time.

Aswell as all memory makers pulling warranty on all value memory!

Seriously...OC is like flipping a coin. And a 20%+ overvoltage is so bad no OEM would want to deal with it on the factory floor. Unless its for some XPS extreme system.

If we have the chicken and the egg, cook me an omelet with fried chicken - for short, show me the benches with the comparison between old boards with DDR2 and this DDR2/DDR3 mutant board with DDR3 ram on, I'm really curios: THOSE IT WORTH IT? - back them use to think it would.

for that price you have the fastest DDR2 memory out there...I hope it will drop pretty soon...would be weird, the most expensive thing in your case is memory, instead of CPU or GPU...

well memory does have more silicon per square conductive inch without the packaging.

Then 1GB of that DDR3 should be better then 4GB of good old DDR2 to worth it.

I think you'd be better off using the north bridge sink to cool your processor!

dang, this stuff is getting out of hand. North Bridges don't have to be THAT cool. I mean, what's the thermal envelope of say... 680i?

So you can buy DDR3 but not DDR3 board, and buy DX10 cards but no DX10 games. Next will be "X" uberprocessor without i386 architecture so no Windows at all? Some would be pleased

Then we devise an nda breaking method that reroutes the broken nda from china and points to a pig name zhiang in a mud pit in hubei farmlands. The pig would have to have no owner.

    This can be done.
