New DS3 Rev 3.3 won't do same overclock as DS3 Rev 1 any tips?

    I had a DS3 Rev 1 running a E6400 @ 3.2ghz @ 1.35v and since the board died I got a RMA from newegg for a DS3 Rev 3.3. Now the system gets a error after 2 hours @ 3.2ghz @ 1.35v. Old DS3 was running f7, new one is running f10. Does the f7 work with the rev 3.3?

I believe I found the problem, raised the pci-e freq to 110. Is that safe? I ran my at 100 before.

No! DS3 rev1.0 is better Overclocker because of it have lower Vdroop
and about BIOS there is no Best BIOS, here is only best BIOS for you then you should test F5-F10 and find your best
and about PCIe dont go over 105-107 it will reduce your VGA lifespan

thats wrong, you can up it up to 125mhz savely (nforce-boards do it themselve, when a nvidia videocard is used)

I've been fighting with my rev 3.3 too. My rev 1 overclocked past 3.6 ghz orthos stable but had cold boot issues where it would lose the overclock. Enter the rev 3.3 - it holds the OC but max is about 3.52 Ghz.

Glad to see Im not the only one....

Its not the droop, I've bumped up the vcore to much more than the rev1 needed - still cannot get 3.6 stable. If it was s droop issue, overcompensating with voltage would correct that. I cannot get orthos stable at 3.6 at all with this board.

The problem is that I have a project coming up that requires 2.3+ vdimm and my P5B-E can't cut the mustard..

Well I up the vcore to 1.37 instead of t my normal 1.35 and its been running for 5 hours stable. So the rev 3.3 has a bigger vdroop?

Could anyone explain vdroop to me? Like does it mean the intel board sets a higher voltage but sends out less?

Yea, it's not the vdroop guys...

    Here is my rev 1.0.

I've taken the DS3 rev 3.3 up to 1.40v under load and it still craps out in orthos within seconds. It's not the vdroop.

Vdroop is the amount of fluctuation of voltage. ie, you show 1.39v in CPU-Z before you start priming. When you fire up orthos and check CPU-Z it will drop to ~1.36v maybe 1.34v if you let it run for awhile. The asus boards are terrible with vdroop. At 1.392v idle in CPU-Z it would dip to 1.32v when loaded. Now if the chip needs 1.36v under load for stability that means giving it more juice just to offset the vdroop. ...or mod the board to correct it.

The problem with rev 3.3 isnt vdroop, granted there is more but I'm already over compensating for that. Your chip just might require more voltage for some reason -

Did you try 1.425? I know the Rev. 3.3 dosn't show voltage in cpuz. (it dosnt change!)

use a newer version of CPU-Z. Mine shows volts...
I went up to 1.5v and still 3.6 wasn't stable on the new board, I know for sure it cannot oc as high.

I'm using 1.39. The F10 bios dosn't work with it. It will show one voltage and stay at that number.

i've had trouble getting high fsb on the 3.3 too. not much over 400. the latest was a Q batch e6400, had to settle on 380fsb! the best are the rev1 c2 boards with f8i IMHO. my cpuz won't show voltage over 1.38 set in bios. over that it shows like 1.12 volts and just sits there, under that works like dnottis says..

Just a reminder... any time you go over 103Mhz for the PCI-E frequency you are risking burning up your videocard.

no you're not... you're risking corrupting your SATA drives data. Graphics card will just produce visible artifacts if PCIE bus is too fast.

I see what I see, and you see what you see. I can't make you see what I see, but I can tell you what I see is not what you see. Truth is, we see what we want to see, and what we want to see is what those around us see. And what we don't see is... well, conspiracies.

Damn, I just ordered this board to mess around with cause it was $116 at egg.
I thought this was the best cheap o.c board. And 3.3 doesn't have d9 issues correct? Is there a pencil vdroop mod for this board? can anyone point me to it?
Nobodys going to burn a video card @ pcie 103mhz thats ridiculous! Ask any of the top overclockers and you can gain a lot running at 115-120mhz. 125 and up with sata is a little risky but you're not going to "burn" your videocard.

Its still a great budget overclocker - just might not quite OC as high as rev 1.0 or some other boards that are much more expensive. So far it's proven to be about 80Mhz less overclock. 80Mhz isnt really a big deal.
