Go to the main bios screen and hit Ctrl and F1 at the same time. Then go to the motherboard intelligent tweaker page and you will see the memory voltages. Set the voltage as per your brand. Save the settings and then cold boot (power off and on). Now when you check cpuz it will probably show the right memory and spd.Originally Posted by lwj5
Edit....this is what I found with a simple google search.
The memory itself is designed to run at 2.0V or higher depending upon the latencies selected. GEIL actually rates this memory at 2.4V for 3-4-3-8 operation at DDR2-800 although we have not required voltages above 2.2V at this setting.

Same here. The first boot of the day never works. The BIOS always resets itself. Warm reboots, Priming, gaming all work fine. I just can't get the system to cold boot with my overclock.Originally Posted by t800

Don't just focus on your cpu... Do some orthos at large and see how it goes. I used to have the same problem when I set my vdimm to default which is 1.8v. Damn power cycle and I hate those days when I got my system. As I start playing around with the vdimm and timings, I'm so in love with my pc now lol!

It's a little too hot for my liking, peaking at 70c (Core according to Everest) during dual prime 95 lge/sml ffts.
I booted but failed prime within minutes at 460 but at that time my ram timings were tighter at 5 5 5 18 and I've messed with voltages since then. I'll try 460 again with current settings.
Can someone help me though, what is appropriate setting to mess with when the system boots but doesn't show any video i.e., blank screen, but it's obviously running? I think it's related to FSB Freq. which I've set at 100 for now iirc. I'm pretty sure that when I set 105 or anything other than 100 this symptom presents itself. I haven't changed PCI Overvoltage from Normal.
OK......I promise I wasn't smoking anything before I typed this.
As a part of my testing of F8i this afternoon, I was testing my memory overclocking. My memory has run at DDR904 on another motherboard so I wanted to see how close I could get.
I must have been smoking something afterall.

Not too sure if this is impressive, but I hit 500Mhz 5-4-4 with 4 x 1GB of Fatbody D9 with F8i on a DS3.
8 x 400Mhz on the CPU, I could only wish that it was 1:1
However, my board craps out at 480Mhz with +0.2V, and +0.3V won't even boot, even with cool 7C Canadian air blowing on it.
Hopefully, there will be some improvements in the final F8 release.
BTW, has anyone else noticed that memory bandwith is better at 450Mhz than at 455Mhz? This is 1:1 with a 8X multiplier

The problem is the F8b beta for the DQ6 is very immature, there is a problem with overclocking and the Watch Clock Time Out.
I was also able to set FSB to 425x8, but upon shutting down and restarting the PC just hangs on POST, it won't save the overclock settings. Thus it's not wise to have an overclock with F8b, default settings are fine.
Wait until the bios matures, i also thought the problem was related to the PCI-E frequency, it's not...it's more technical.

lwj5, what you are saying is common for Geil RAM. Check their website. All their RAM is read as 5-5-5-15 DDR2-667 when you first boot up. You have to go into the BIOS settings and manually set the memory timings of the actual RAM.
I would suggest you try memory overvoltage of +0.3 tho you may get away with less if running at 800 and 5-5-5-15
As mentioned above, to get to the settings you need to boot into bios and from the main screen press CTRL+F1 then go into the MB Intelligent Tweaker settings.
The settings are there

800MHz * 8 = 6400 MB/s
64bits of data can be transferred on each clock cycle. That's the same as 8 bytes. So
DDR2 800 * 8 = PC2-6400
I don't think I've seen PC2-xxxx referenced by GB in the BIOS, manual, etc.
