    E6300 System Build.

ok guys, here's the deal i've already got my E6300 processor and now i need a board, memory, vid card and case to go with it. i'm planning on ordering a DS3, 7600GT and an Antec Super LanBoy. i wanted to see what memory i should order. i was thinking of buying G.Skill PC6400 or PC5400. is there a major difference in 667 or 800mhz memory in this particular setup? if so, what are the advantages or disadvantages of getting the PC6400 instead of the PC5400?

Well, with the lower multiplier chips (E6300/6400) you're going to need higher FSB speeds to achieve the same OC that, say, an E6600 would get. So, with that in mind, I would recommend getting the DDR2-800 because for you 400x7 is only 2.8GHz, so you're going to want more than that. Of course, you might be even better off getting DDR2-1000, but it's really pricey.

So, my advice is to go with DDR2-800. What brand and which sticks, I can't tell you. I just went for the best deal (bought the Ballistix 2GB DDR2-800 for $200 after rebate).
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
    Crucial Ballistix 2x1GB DDR2 800 4-4-4-12
    Asus P5B-Deluxe
    eVGA 8800GTS 320MB
    74GB Raptor | 300GB Maxtor

    "Naked" Opteron 165 @ 3.0GHz | 1.55v

i always hear about motherboard/memory compatibility problems, does anyone know if these sticks will work with a DS3?
