berkut > Yeah, getting R1150 in europe is so a such hard thing :d . About insultating HX, I really don't believe using vaccum is necessary : H2O vapor condensing don't happen anymore because there is no air renew inside. After that the only heat loss here is about the exchange between the HX and the air (passive convection here), air temperature is so going dowm for a few while and after (even before...) that, the loss are very very small. I really think this loss is very smaller than what ever loss using something to insulate that HX. But, you're right for sure using vaccum would reduce that loss again.
Well make a trip to Vegas while you are here and we will break some hardware over a few beers!

Really, my home was built in '56, and theres no 50A service for anything. The largest breaker in my box is 20A for a 220V dryer. The oven is a 20A 110V breaker. My pole service is 2-50A 220V inputs. Thats feed to the main breaker box for the entire house.

Now Im not up on wiring code, but your saying newer homes have 220V wired on 50A breakers for an oven Why does an oven need 10KW

Hey, I just looked, and your right, the NEC for a range is 8K-12KW. Guess that didn't apply in '56. But, will builders build to the high side or low side of that range? And I guess theres a smaller load you can run on a circuit continuous, like 80% IIRC. Anyway, that would still put it in a ify range for me.

No, it wasn't ment to be insulated, the rig was to be run in a sealed box to prevent condensation.

the evap could be a good deal colder if it was actuallly insulated.

Project seemed to peter out a bit, most of the temps quoted in the article were "possible" temps, the vid said -1XXC CPU and SLI possible but i havent seen much evidence of it, is that it for this project?

Yes that's it, Zythrahus started it in France but had to move to the USA for a job opportunity before he could get his hands on the third stage gas. Seems there are no vacations in USA
