And that's not much to ask, but I guess the strenuous intellectual effort to accomplish this is a bit too much for some of you.I'll have to put my chip under phase (or at least water) and see how it does. Looks like 2.8 is the most I can get on air (load temps are getting a bit high, 47-50C). I don't know if it's worth running at 2.8 really, going from 2.75 to 2.8 needs a whole .75v (well, around that) more to keep core 0 stable. It's perfectly stable at 1.612, but I feel the vcore jump is just too big to warrant such a small increase in performance. Plus the load temps are so much higher at 2.8 (probably because of the additional volts). Anybody got any input?
EDIT: And no, I can't just go out and get a better chip, my pockets aren't endless like some of you here

I am stable enough now, but I'd like to aim a bit higher. I have seen 2 other results from 0547TPMW on this forum, and mine seems very mediocre compared. But temps are through the roof, and that is probably what is limiting me here, but my temps are awfully high. My contact is good (it could be better, of course, but it's pretty decent contact already). The jump from 2750 to 2800 just introduces a ton of heat and for some reason core 0 just wants alot more voltage. The heat output of this chip just seems horrid.Originally Posted by itznfb

i would invest in some decent water cooling if you're only aiming a bit higher. of course its been said over and over, you can have the best stepping and still perform worse than the worst stepping. i'm sure you could land somewhere between 2.9 and 3.0 with some liquid.Originally Posted by masterofpuppets
Additional Comment:
i definatly wouldn't waste money on phase unless you want to reach 3000+

From what I've heard, CCBWE isn't too coldbugged. I'm only limited by the lack of decent mounting. There is no way I'm going to risk this board with the stock mounting. I've killed 2 Socket478 boards with condensation thanks to nVentiv's great mounting, I don't plan to add a 939 board to my list. My insulation is not into question here. So don't even start criticising me on that I'm going to stick a Chilly1 block on there when I know for sure his PayPal is working and I can trust him to ship it (I've seen some bad reports on him very recently). If my chip coldbugs, I'll just have to save up for a bigger rad (I'm already planning to stick my gfx under water, and I doubt a HE120.2 is enough for the CPU as well) and a decent CPU block I suppose.Originally Posted by itznfb

@ 865pe- are you able to run v24.14 of prime95? I was stable at 2.9ghz, 1.45v for sp2004, but needed 1.48v to be 24.14 stable, still running small ffts. I've got the same stepping as you, but mine is not as good.
i would have to agree, why not just run the gfx on air?Originally Posted by masterofpuppets

I have yet to see a decent aircooler for the X1900 series, and stock is way too noisy. Plus, the extra clocks would be nice.Originally Posted by itznfb

a HE120.2 is plenty for a cpu and 2 gfxs. the change in water temp without running the gfxs in the same loop is really negligible to your cpu temps. maybe 1-3C, won't help an overclock much, especially with a not-so-temp-sensitive chip.
