Hell, Intel owes it to AMD. If it wasn’t for AMD, you all would be sweating 60 pipelines P5,6,7 or P8 for another 2-3 years. I mean sweating.
We know what AMD will have this year :

    X2 5000+ 2.6/512KB
    X2 5200+ 2.6/1MB ( Q4 )
    FX 62 2.8/1MB

Which one will beat the 315$ Conroe 2.4GHz ? Should I even mention the 530$ Conroe 2.66GHz ?

You can go here and compare prices :

Btw , long pipelines are the future.Even if short pipeline rule now , all studies made have shown ideal pipeline length should be around 30+ ( Intel ) and ~50 ( IBM ).Problem is if process and transistors evolution will be fast enough to allow a improved Netburst to make a comeback...

AMD ... all dead, and maybe the same words to Yonah

Let's waiting for Conroe/Meroms and more great 975x mobos with good OC features.

Time for us to break into 10sec now.

Victor - any chance you can run a lower multi - so we can compare Conroe VS Merom @ 2.0GHZ

i think not even AM2 will get this results

    and AM2 prices already out:

Pricing and availability for AMD's desktop AM2 offerings

We have received some rather interesting info on AMD's new range of Socket AM2 processors. According to internal AMD documents, system builders will be able to purchase the new AM2 processor starting on May 15th. Dual core and single core Athlon 64 processors will be available as well as 64-bit Sempron processors.

According to our previously published roadmaps, AMD's Athlon 64 FX-62 will be the company's top desktop offering for the remainder of the year. It is not until Q1 of 2007 that we will see the FX-64 hit the market. All other AM2 processors are officially under embargo until June 6, 2006.

The SSBP above denotes the Suggested System Builder Price. Actual manufacturer purchase prices are approximately 10% less. And of course, you can be sure those new CPUs will come with heatpipe coolers and new packaging. AMD insiders have confirmed to us that AM2 motherboards will be shipping for several weeks before the launch to assure widespread availability at launch.

Conros is prolly better now because of bandwith but when merom gets a good board then it should do a little better than conroe

Definitely I won't buy another 165 to see if it gets to 2.9 or 3ghz

BTW someone around has a 2.4 DC Opty superpi time to compare the gap? My 165 at 2600 does 30.5s with tweaked memory @ 260mhz RAM 2-2-2-5 yes I know it's a different generation but that doesn't hurt the fact that's the increase we're going to feel when going DC Opty -> Conroe.

sorry mike, the bios now have no oc fucntion.
and not software can support 965G chipset.

I think, their performance must be close to each other, just different socket and deafult_fsb.

Guys as Ryder already asked please keep this thread ontopic and not turn it into an Intel AMD battle. I am sure Victor doesnt like that his thread turned into a war. Thanks!!

Please try out 3DMark05, we know that Intel are strong already in 03 and 06.

good to see we will have some 3d benches, would be no good to most regular users if it could pull 21s @ 1M but not top an a64 at 3d. (pressuming it will beat an a64, but results might not be as exciting as superPI results)

    Congrats to the results Victor!

As many other people are requesting, can you please run some more benchmarks at that speed, preferable multi-threaded benchmarks, as well as 3DMark.

All i can say is.. Amazing :O

I wonder if this would be a good move for intel.. Since all their procs (single or dual) priced above $300 would become obselete just like that.. :P
