    x850xtpe Alternate Vgpu Measure Point?

Hi guys - I'm wondering if anybody knows of an alternate Vgpu measure point other than this one:

My insulation covers this point and makes it impossible to measure my vcore without tearing it down. I'm hoping somebody can help because I'm stuck @ 720Mhz on the core with basically no idea of what the exact Vgpu voltage is (I'm thinking it's ~1.65 atm cuz that's what it was last time I checked) Thanks.....

Wish I could help ya bro, but I'll just pipe in and say 720 is very impressive for 1.65v.

I also forgot about the insulation covering the read point, but "luckily" for me, my card frosted up and forced me to reinsulate, the second time around, I remembered to solder a wire to the read point...maybe you'll have the same fortune. :p :-/

lol...I hate re-doing any insulation work and basically will do anything to avoid it. Regardless, I'm gonna have to re-do the insulation anyway since I'm probably gonna put the card under a Baker GPU unit next week Just hoping to maybe find a quick, temporary solution until then......

I tried to find that second measure point, but no luck.
You can do a 'resistance' - 'voltage' scale.
    xxx ohms - xxx volts

EDIT: I will make that list with my x850. Wait for 10mins.

Thank you.....I'll be waiting - So you're basically saying just ohm the resistor/pot?

    Yes, resistance on resistor/pot.

    Here is a list:
    vgpu (V) / resistance (ohms
    1.475 414.0
    1.500 407.7
    1.525 400.2
    1.550 393.7
    1.575 387.3
    1.600 381.1
    1.625 375.0
    1.650 369.3
    1.675 364.1
    1.700 358.8
    1.725 352.9
    1.750 348.0

Didn't want to try higher because I'm on aircooling for now.
Tried the same settings on my other card and the voltage was +-0.005 V.

1.75V on air? And I'm not even there with a 226W pelt..lol. I see your score a few spots above mine

I was told that if I had run the Catalyst AI for that run, my score would have been 1000points higher Oh well, that was just a practice run-through anyways. Thanks again

Well, it's high end air. My X800 was kicking nice with 2.07V on core and cold water, so why not.

Did you used LOD in nature? Your nature seems kind low.

EDIT: A little warning if anybody will want to do a list like this for their card: Don't measure the resistance when the computer is running!

s7e9h3n u can give the card more thane 1.65vgpu for sure
    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8821116
for those clocks ur nature is very low , us the timings tweak .
more info from my bench in the compare.
the X800Pro has 3 vgpu reading points , but my x850 is broke so i can not findt the othere on thate 1 i know there

I've been told it's because I wasn't using the Catalyst AI....in fact I don't think I even had the CCC installed....

If you know the vgpu, try to poke around at some filtering caps and you might find an alternative point.

You can also try some points around the vmod soldering point. Depending on how the regulation works, you can have actual vgpu at one "side" of the vgpu VR.

The best way would be to measure resistance between a known vgpu read out and to some other points, but I guess you need to remove the insulation to do that, or if someone can measure on another card.

Here is pic of both vgpu measure points, you can use either one.

LOL...that's even harder to reach than the original one! Thanks for the tip though. ..I guess I'll have to just pull the insulation unless anybody here's witholding any info???

    How about asking Wizzard?

Isn't he the man when it comes to video cards?

Been there done that, same issue, no he dont know's, asked Urlyin as well - the man who's made the mod, he doesnt know neither, but mate, just fire at will, I've been told by SIOUX that it begins to get unstable with 2 much vgpu, just like a CPU does with to much vcore..
    - Im only able to read vdd - not vgpu, because of heatkiller cooling head + insulation

He's started on XS 2 btw... - Since the LOD tweak for ATI appeared, he wanted to know what its all about so that it can be included in next version, he's also availible on MSN, you can find his mail on techpowerup

    s7e9h3n, lets make a deal - If I beat your 720mhz @ GPU I get a XIP ?

Man stephen... you are doing thougher then needed just take an old molex with wire. solder te wire to the reading point. place youre nice evap/tube on the card and put the plus wire of the multimeter in the molex

Hmm, looks cool dude, is there anything to gain using IGPU mod?

And VDDQ, some use it, others dont, I dont - what difference does it make ? :S

I promise you won't be able to beat my gpu by next week. Like I said, I'm only @ ~1.65Vgpu and 720 Core. I'm getting a Baker Gpu Phase unit that holds @ -47C LOADED....Expect to see 800+ on the core....beat that, and then we'll consider it

IGPU is only over current protection, you need it if you trip it, other than that you don't need it.

I know HOW to do that, it's just that I'm trying to be lazy and not have to take the insulation off my card....lol....

ahh oki, so if one, like I, havnt a clue about the vgpu, IGPU would be a nono - cause it would allow one to turn the card to toast?

I hear it's not necessary for the x850xtpe's....it was necessary on other models, but not these particular ones?
