    7950GX2 and LinkBoost

Real quick question. Do the 7950GX2s get LinkBoosted?

    What do you mean?
That the card's SLI controller and link is more efficient?
I think it is, but I think the card may also be using lower latency memory or something, which could be another reason why it gets a boost over 2x7900GT.

I see you have a x1900xt on your sig.
I wouldnt update if that's your intention. You have a pretty solid card that could hold you until top DX10 cards, like the 600 or g90.
Everything in between wont be a good investment, since power-hungry games like Crysis and UT2k7 will benefit a lot from a true Unified Shader architecture in SM4.

The reason I got my XFX 7950GX2 520/1300 not so long ago (havent updated my sig) was because it was really cheap for only $540 with some offer in buy.com and I was tired of waiting with my x850xt for my next update.
In my siuation, I think I did a good choice, tho, since the next-gen cards may take some time to perfect themselves and to "cheapen up" :P
That may take half a hear or more, so Im good with this card till then :P

I'm sorry. LinkBoost is a feature that on AMD nForce 590 motherboards, the graphics cards get overclocked 25% automatically. The NVIDIA site only lists 7900GTXs, but it's possible they haven't updated it since 7950GX2 release.

I don't necessarily want this. I'm just curious.

    P.S. You called the G80 a G90.

ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe manual says it does. Can anyone here confirm that?

Yep but it doesn't overclock the video card, it just overclocks the Pci Express bus which shows a big performace boost of about 2%

Read this Nforce 590 review as they go into it's features and performance and bench with linkboost on and off

    YAY 2!
Wow. That's the biggest marketing junk I've ever seen. SO it doesn't even matter that the Intel Edition 590s won't have LinkBoost. I just might get one in hopes that G80 won't be a mess like FX5x00.

yeah just overclock your own pci express bus if you must. But seriously i doubt that these cards need much more of a a faster link as in reality 16x PCIE per card is already overkill. I mean when a game loads up data it loads it into ram and into the gpu's ram and from there it pretty much stays.

I mean look at the perfomance improvements we got from agp4x to 8X. Well companies trying to sell us stuff told us it was great but it really was pretty boring and the fps increases were negligable
