That wasn't nice of them. It looks like the demand for this card has been phenomenal. They had almost 100 in stock this morning when I ordered and they were out by this afternoon.

I'd be careful with that. Apparently the C3D model might be an R480, but it also might be an an R423 or R430. It depends on the stock ATI had to get rid of. IMHO the GTO2 is worth the extra $25 for the guaranteed R480, unless you think you can resell a disappointing GTO for near retail.

That link proves the point. These things started out at $199, but that's
ballooned to around $240 in less than a week as word got around. Also, they're OOS in a lot of places, and since the card itself is a means of sloughing off R480 stock it's a good bet that it's a very limited production run.

Am I glad I snagged one at $199 instead of Allstarshop's $240? You bet.

Isnt it 8 pipes, and you unlocked 4 more pipes, so 12 pipes?

    For $240?!!
It clocks great, but I rather get an X800 (12 pipes 400cor/350mem) because all of them do at least 500 on the mem. and its onlt $160, $80 for 100mhz on the core
    -Not worth it.

nooo 12pipes and you unlock it for 16pipes.

The sapphire ones are 100% success rate with x850xt pe speeds.

Definitely worth it over an x800... check it out for yourself in all the threads here on XS and at techpowerup:

I'd say it's not worth it unless you get one with a really good core. I paid $220 for my GTO2 and $280 for my XL. The GTO2 is a superior card no matter how you look at it compared to the XL but how much superior depends on how good the core is. I've seen cores max as low as 520 and as high as 600+. So you decide how much you wish to gamble.
The little air system that could.
