8600 gts switch frequency mod ?

I remember at 7900 was the complete solution for freezings...

It must be somehow cause I see the ISL controller...

There is a frequency selection pin on nearly any of these controllers. Just have a look at the datasheet. It's not that difficult.

sorry guys, what is this mod about? a hw switch that can control freq? that would be cool if paired with a voltage switch too
imagine, 1.8V and 800mhz core in 3D, then switch the switch and you have stock Vcore and freq.
Is that the way how it works??

No, you misunderstood.

It's not about the chip's frequency, but about the switching frequency of the PWM controller.

And so helps at 8600 GTS too...

Resistor in red is switching frequency.

Default 42 kohm
After pencil mod 20 (half)

And so...I can play so far at 945mhz Dirt without freezes.I'll test it more l8r...

some thread to link me to?? im interested in this, i have some problems with my 8600gt, after couple hours in oblivion, it freezes and then i get message frm win that display adapter must have been reseted

Yup thats exactly the problem I had (well actualy after some minutes not hours lol)

But only overclocked too high...
(if this happens on default speed then its driver problem)

Now I can play without freeze and this ''a driver had stoped responding etc..'' message...

its refference 8600GT, i have only 2MP cam, so whole board just isnt possible, but if you tell me what part of board, i might try to take good pix.

well...i did a search now on a reference 8600gt...but...i couldnt find any chip like mine...

Hmm, think he need a VERY high res.

He must see the transistors on the PCB to see which it is.
