I am using the Bios that came with the board. In my experience mobile chips have a tendancy to not like being restarted, especially when they are overclocked.

Is there any other board not mentioned here or about to be released that can run Newark's with a PCIE/SLI setup?
Don't get the infinity if you want to use an X-fi sound card, they are not compatable.

I'm not a sound purest as some so I run an older SBlive X Gamer card. Have peeps found or heard of issues with older gear on the DFI NF4X INFINITY?

The only problem I am aware of with the NF4x Infinity board is the incompatability with X-fi cards, other then that it should be pretty similar to the DFI NF3 except with a PCI-E.

    Thanks for the insight.

Those are some smokin scores with the X1900 strapped in with the Newark 4000+.
What's your cards core and mem running while generating those respectable numbers?

The newark is alive and well, becuase I plopped it right back into my DFI 250Gb and it booted up like a charm.

Are there any bios settings I should be aware of that could make this chippy not post? Thanks for any help guys.

EDIT: Alright, I just updated the bios on the 6100 to 2/07/06 bios from the shipped bios that was dated back in november of last year. Hopefully this will clear up the issue.

EDIT 2: Still no go. I've tried setting up the bios with the sempron for settings that would be more for what the newark would run, but I'm still not getting anywhere. No post beeps, just fans spin and LEDs on board light up...

EDIT 3: I notice in the BIOS that my Chipset or Northbridge voltage is at 1.13v-1.15v is that ample enough juice for this newark? What is it supposed to be running at again?

EDIT 4: Alright, I updated the BIOS to the latest one on the Taiwan site, and that allows my CPU to post.

One question for ya'll with this motherboard, can I run 1T Command Rate with 2x512 DIMMs on this motherboard? Thanks all.

I can remember my Newark days, my Newark hated these 2X1024 dimms I have here, patriot pdp 3200LL, they would only run one stick at 1T and 2 sticks at ddr333
try to go in with diff ram and lower ram speed below 333 then see if shes a go..

Can you guys tell me what kind of performance you get on Unreal Tournament 2004? Like, I want to know what`s the LOWEST frame rate you see in AS-Convoy when you start the game for example. With an X700 Pro, 1GB Corsair RAM and Newcastle 3400+ 2.4 GHz all at stock speeds offline I would get minimum around 40 fps but it would go up from there to around 50 to 80 or almost 90 fps sometimes. Of course, in DM-Curse4, I would see 225 fps or whatever with settings at max offline and at 1280x1024.

I`d like to know what the performance is at 2.6 GHz, 2.8 GHz and 3.0 GHz.

Well, I just started overclocking tonight with this TForce-6100 and so far I'm VERY Impressed. Not with my actual CPU clocks (as I haven't tried to take it further than what I had on the DFI 250Gb), but with my Memory overclock. With the 250Gb Motherboard at a supposed 2.9v on the DRAM voltage, I couldn't get the memory stable in memtest at anywhere over 216MHz. So far with 2.9v on the Tf-6100, I have memory memtest86 4 Hours stable @ 225MHz 2-2-2-5 1T with a tRC of 10 and a tRFC of 12. With the 250Gb, test 5 would error out in the first pass with similar settings.

My question is now, if I set the jumper on this motherboard for 3.3v DRAM voltage, will my 90mm fan that's blowing on these sticks be enough to properly cool these sticks? The fan sits about 5 inches above the sticks. Also, am I or am I not going to have to increase my +3.3v rail to have a stable 3.3v DRAM voltage? Thanks all.

Yeah, I got one of the earlier versions of the GH sticks, so they came naked w/out heatspreaders. Alright, I'll probably mess with the 3.3v Jumper tommorow. Thanks for the help.

Just in case you think the tforce is htt limited, try only a single stick in dimm1. With 2x256mb I hit a wall at 285mhz, with a single stick at 311 and now with a different single 512mb stick 350. The board doesnt like my utt and my mushkin lvl1 with old ch5 :/ I cant get it stable past 250htt with them. Hopefully they can fi the ram issues with a new bios soon.

Also be aware that with the 3.3v jumper there is nothing inbetween 2.9v and 3.3v.
And you should have a fan blowing at the nb and sb as they get pretty hot, even at idle. I have a 120mm fan blowing at the ram, nb and sb. Works great.

Thanks for the tip, I've only got one 90mm fan blowing directly on the ram. How hot can those temps get before it gets critical? On the NB and SB I mean. Also, although I don't have active cooling on either of those, they are probably getting a nice run off breeze from the 2x80mm fans coming in the front. Would that be sufficient or no? Thanks.

I have no idea about temps. I used my fingers to determine whether they are hot or not
Without a fan they got that hot, that I couldnt touch it for long and with the fan they stay cool all the time. I am using a 1500rpm (at12v) fan at 7v. It doesnt move much air at 7v, just a little bit, but thats already enough. I read about people getting a higher HTT with active cooling on nb and sb, so it might be necessary to hit high htts.
I also put AS5 on the nb and sb right after I got it. Dunno if it was usefull, but the tim they used wasnt covering the whole sb..

I tried the 4000+ on my k8n neo platinum and it worked for a minute and then it just kept locking up. It keeps beeping over and over and the diag led 3 is only green. I have ordered a DFI LANPARTY UT nF3 250Gb mb. I hope this solves my problem

Use either the 5/04/05 or the 6/23/05 BIOS. 6/23 played a little nicer with the my newark, but your results may vary. If you get a 250Gb from any online vendor, you're more than likely going to recieve the board with the 5/04 Bios now.

This is a BIOS bug. I mailed to Epox support and they sent me a new BIOS (83js6222.bin, 2006-02-22) which solves the problem.

Does anyone can confirm that the Turions will run on the Epox 8NPA SLI?

depends on the specific chip really.. my clawhammer can't go over 230mhz, even with 2x512mb

My 3400 Newark ran my good 2GB set of OCZ PC3200 at 250FSB until one of the sticks died...

Like ozzimark said, depends on the chip.

Mobile 3700 working on Chaintech VNF-250

Hey all, thanks for the great info in this thread. I was lurking around and was wondering if the AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Mobile AMN3700BKX5BU Socket 754 chip will work on the Chaintech VNF-250 motherboard.

    Thanks!
