Guys, just wondering how the memory controllers are doing on the Turions? Anyone running at 300htt or over? I found a source in my state and about 1/2 hr away from my work that I can pick up a ML-37 or 40. Think I'm going to make contact and see if I can stop by his store and handpick a ML-40.

not a turion, but my newark seemed to max out at 286mhz

sad news though.. i posted this in a different thread, but the newark is dead. seems i took a wee chunk out of the corner of the die, simply refuses to boot at all.

Got a fan over those memory sticks? No? Well get to it before you kill them

Hey ozzimark or anyone running this or another open die cpu want to tell me what you think of this HS/F combo with this CPU. Alpha PAL8150M81

I'm kinda nervous going with something like th XP90C because of how fragile the die is. I've been hearing a lot of people recommending a HS that is bolted down instead of tighted down via retention brackets. Thanks for any input on the subject. Just trying to breathe a little more life into my S754 system.

it works. i'm personally a fan of the swiftech, but it's way expensive compared to the alpha. you might be able to find a better deal for it at somewhere other than newegg

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. Yeah, I was considering that one as well, but since the sink won't be in stock for almost a month I was looking at other options. But, if that is the one you recommend, then that is what I will go with. Once again thanks for your quick reply. Have a nice day

Well ozzi im sry to hear that man, because I also have chipped my edge of the cpu but shes still purring like a lion
And as for the cooler I would agree the 90c that I have ais a bit of a pain in da bottom to out on and off, Ife chewed up bottom of 90c with tiny little scrapes and the newark is showing signs of wear as well, but im gonna lap it this week sometime so well see if it improves the performance a bit, no matter how u look at it the 90c cooles awesome. At 1.5 @ 2820 i idle at 27 and load at 38 which for me is awesome compared to the infinities ive had.
But if u want something a little less destructive I would def say nt to go with the ret bracker kind of coolers..

Thanks for the input Philosophy. Do you think I'll be able to touch the clocks you guys have been getting with your XP90c with something like the Swiftech? If not that's cool, as the extra clocks just aren't worth the risk of crushing the die for me. Also, what do you guys think is the better TIM, AS5 or Shin-Etsu (sp?) or other? Thanks once again for your quick replies, it's greatly appreciated.

It seems quite a few people have been suggesting that Zalman heatsink, it looks like we've got a winner. Thanks very much.

One last question guys. Will the CNPS-7000B-Cu be too heavy for the die? Or will it be okay to use? Sorry for the repition of these questions, I just want to get the right heatsink the first time. Thanks again.

around 286mhz here, but i never got to test it with ram i know could do higher.
i could get a wicked htt speed though, 433mhz on stock chipset voltage

the zalman won't be too heavy if you're careful with the case. if you're really worried, get the alcu version

I dont see why not as long as it coole somewhat decently, I love my 90c and all but damage it does to cpu it killer, might not help that I grinded doown the feet of the cpu retention bracket for tighter fit as well, but all in all Im happy with the perf im getting..
Once I get some good ram the world is mine muahahahaaaaa...
honestly i never even tried for max htt I always wanted to run all my stuff tight timings 1:1
    Best ive done was 255 1:1 2-2-2-5-7-16 X12

I got my grubby hands on one of these chips too! It will hopefully arrive here by Friday. I was wondering if this chips core sits as high as a dtr in the socket because I have already trimmed down my heat sink mount so I can use a clip on heatsink. BTW the heatsink I am using is a Freezer 64.

    here is the heatsink

I'll post some results once I get my chip.

wish you some good luck bro, hopefully the set of ram that you have isnt the same as mine maybe u have the ce-6 and i have the be-5 who knows or vice cersa, im thinking of selling this stuff I have now and tryint to set this ram up on the nf4 and a nixe x2 because these will do 250 2.3-3-2-5 at 2.7 over 12 hrs memtest and windows stable as well, just not on my newark and nf3..
I have never sold anything online yet but im thinking this might be a good time to start..
    I love BF2 that much
or maybe nf3 939 and a nice x2 so i can still use some of my exhisting hardware..
