Need opinions on what processor to get

I've haven't been around for a while and need some advice.

My T-Bred B 2100+ took a sh*t last night. I had it running at around 2400Mhz forever. Anyway, what's the latest and greatest? I'm using an NF7-S 2.0 and need to figure out what to get next.

    Thanks for any comments.

Go with a Mobile Barton if you're not willing to replace the mobo and stuff.

Hey thanks for the replies. I had forgotten about that 2500 mobile. I'm either gonna get that or the 2600 mobile. I'm using a Swiftech Quiet Power liquid cooled case and want the best overclocker possible (don't we all).

Notice that 2400+ is a 35w... might be an even better bin. It runs an even lower voltage.

What happenned to the tbred anyway? I blame my cpu last after the times I've wrongly accused it. I give my board the evil eye now first and always.

A mobile was my last socketA. Can't go wrong if thats what you are after. You could think about it forever or just pick one.

I switched boards and I think I fried it (NF7-S 1.2 to a 2.0 that I've had laying around here for like a year). I didn't get the waterblock lined up right and it fried. I've changed it so many times though I just got careless. Oh well , I wanted something better anyway.

    I agree!
Mobile Barton 2500+ and ABIT NF7-S v2.0 were the best pair!
You have to seek for a good stepping cos Bartons are not up to date and then good o/cs!

Well I went with a 2600 mobile. The max it'll go so far is is around 2750 (11.5x240) but it doesn't like it. I've tried getting higher fsb but I think my ram is holding me back now. It's XMS3500 but I'm using 3 256 sticks. I just ordered some of their 4400 so we'll see what it'll do with that.

What is considered safe voltage with these things? I have it set to 1.95 volts in the bios but CPU-Z reads from 1.904-1.888. Temp is 46C.

1.9v should be okay on air for bartons. I run a poor 2600 non mobile @ 2370mhz, 1.92v for nearly 4-5 months now.

I ran my older 2600 Mobile at 1.95v+ on air too but higher frequencies-> more temp

Most will say 1.85v limit on air, but In my opinion 1.9v is good.

So on water 1.90-1.95v should be safe.
