K8N Neo2 Platinum? which s939 board to buy??

Ok I´m going to go s939 next week and I´m still unsure about the board. The MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum seems quite nice to me but I´m not that much into s939 yet. Is it worth buying it or are there any better ones?

try an asus, but id stay away from abit their latest boards have been juust terrible.
or wait for dfi, but i do mean wait
your sig says 35s superpi, well you should be expecting that to drop to around 32s or lower i got 36s at 2.5ghz

I´m really lost atm. I got the choice between:

    Abit AV8
    Asus A8V Deluxe with Wifi
    Gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP
    MSI K8N NEO 2-54G Platinum

The abit seems like a no-no in any way.
The Asus with wifi doesn´t have agp/pci locks (?)
Never read anything about the Gigabyte...
The MSI looks ok but some people seem to have troubles with it.

    what ram do you have
I've tried all these boards, and I can say NOOOOO to the abit for sure. NOOOO to the Asus for you, only b/c in europe it won't have locks unless you can get a non wifi rev2 board. That leaves teh others, and the MSI is ok, but has some issues with certain rams.

I haven't tried bh-5 in this board, but I Think you should be ok, but I wouldn't expect high 1:1 speeds, you will need to use ram divider to reach higher HTT speeds.

yes, I believe given your choices the MSI would be my choice then. I think you may want to consider getting some different ram though down the road.

I find that I can get very stable with stock cooling to 270 htt with the MSI but I cant get it to do T1 memory timing at anything. Now the abit I can do T1 timing stable 250htt but cant get much over that stable. I used Corsair 4000pro on both boards. I find the Msi much more stable a board However. I have not tried either with the phase change cooling or anything as of yet.

I had two of the Abit boards die on me with in a month, so I cant recomend Abit.

The MSI K8N NEO2 has been the best A64 board I've ran in the past year.

Like JNav89GT says it's like all A64 mobo's pretty picky about ram.

But all in all it's a good board for every day use

    I'm running the
    MSI 1:1 @ 215mhz 2.5,3,3,7 timings 1T

Took some time to get everything sorted out properly, but works nicely now

Waiting on some PC4000 Ballistix 2x512 memory to see how far I can get 1:1 (crossing my fingers for 11x230+)

    @_@

I can only hope to close to your results (but with W/C)

    I'd be happy with ~230x11

the sticks are here (just now ^_^ )

    I was able to get a solid {stability wise} 250x10 out of the 3500+/Ballistix on W/C

I think you may be suprised
Good Luck, may the OC gods be with you

What bios are you all using to get T1 memory timings? Seems no matter what I do I cant get it to post with A T1 timing and my corsair 4000pro even at stock speeds yet the abit board will do T1 with the same memory. Am I missing something here?

try the other 2 dimm slots, but mine worked T1 with both 1.1 (shipped with board) and 1.2

    Just not on Dimm's 1&2

Board requires a lot of very finicky settings, but once setup the way it likes it's quite good ^^

Which dimm slots shall we use for dual channel? Any special setting in BIOS for DC?

I´m building a PC for friend with this board and using RAM on dimms 1&3 can't get DC...

    Thanks for the help

If you look at the slots there is a channel A and B you must use both a and b two get daul.

Havent tried anything but the shipping BIOS 1.1
I had mucho problems with the BIOS setting "agressive timings" after setting that to dissabled, then 1t has never been a problem.

Dissableing "agressive timings" only affected Sandra mem 130 or so points, so for me that is an acceptable loss, because I can run 1t and 262htt 1:1

Does this mean that the 4 dimm slots must be populated? Do we need 4 sticks of RAM to have Dual Channel?

Tell me taht I am wrong, please

btw, which is the best BIOS?

    Thanks

    preliminary results are in

230x11 with the 2x512 PC4000 Ballistix ram as a starting point
    2.5,3,3,8

this board should be sold with 2 options 2x256mb of this memory or 2x512
    -.-

my pc3500 wouldn't do 220x11 at the same timings
