    3.46EE just won't be "hot" with OC'ers

because of that multi! OMG, with multi 13x, it would take 310 just to hit 4gHz and nearly 390 to hit 5 gHz.....
It may be nice silicon....and be pretty fast @ default... but won't make a splash here....
The last decent P4 to be released should be
    P4 SPECIAL EDITION 3.99gHz@15 x 266
    Prescott core
    4mB L3 cache
    unlocked multi's
    E0 stepping

That would be a nice "last hurrah" for P4

    Yes, that's not that good.
390Fsb Bench Stable isn't easy (impossoble for normal users)
So, 4Ghz is the real good oveclocking with this P4

The only way that will work is if someone gets a nice DFI board and mods it and do who knows what else. A 15multi might be nice...mmmm...o'well. I would want the last P4 to have:
    4ghz
    128k L1
    4mb L2
    4mb L3

that'd be great! like that will ever happen...with the P4 brandname..

The 1066 chips are the reason why the initial Extreme Edition chips were fully locked. Intel knew that if the multiplier were downward unlocked, we would simply change the multiplier to 13x and crank the bus up, leaving absolutely no reason to buy the 1066 boards/CPU's. Isn't it nice of Intel to try to force us to buy the same CPU twice??

I want nothing to do with PCI Express until next year. The way things are going in the video card market, it'll probably be midway through next year before we see any SLI cards available for purchase. By that time, dual core Opterons will be out...should make for a good gaming rig.

what do you mean? As far as I knew the current PCI-E 6800GTs etc were already allowing that..

I've yet to see any PCI-Express 6800 series cards for sale (looking at both Newegg and Zipzoomfly). They don't even have SKUs for them. The 6800 Ultra AGP is just now becoming readily available. The fastest NVidia card in a PCI Express format that I can see is the 6600GT.

And at the rate they are going, it'll probably be next year before we see them (we'll probably be able to buy them at about the same time they announce the successor to the 6800 series).

But then again, what else is new?

Must have missed that one...still, they're not in stock and the 6800 Ultra PCI Express is nowhere in sight.

3.8Ghz E0 stepping seems to be the best from intel now.

I have both the 3.4Ghz 800FSB EE ES and 3.46Ghz 1066FSB EE ES

There is no 3.6Ghz P4 EE to date.

There is no such thing as a 3.6GHz EE.

sorry, your right guys. Intel hasn't officially released the 3.6ghz EE, and I wonder why. Hexus.net has tested this cpu and so did THG in the benchmarks. This chip will rival A64s. I know it's out there. It is known as ES or engineering sample.

The thing with 3.4EE / 3.46EE's is that they are quite more expensive than FX55's and I cant see why they should be. If the 3.4EE would be around or a cheaper than same price as the FX55 then we would see more people around the forums buying them but as the FX55 is the better cpu in games etc, why should people buy the 3.4EE / 3.46EE....

I've yet to see any benchmarks on an official (not overclocked) 3.6 EE. Please post the links.

I highly doubt Intel will be releasing any more processors on the Socket 478 format. Even if they were going to, they would never release them unlocked (they want us to buy the 925XE, remember), and they know how easy it is to take an unlocked chip and clock it appropriately to duplicate their 1066 MHz FSB chips. Therefore, it's not to their advantage to unlock them (that and giving us what we want just wouldn't be right)

I haven't heard of a 3.6 EE chip being released in the future. For S775, there's the 3.4 EE, 3.46 EE, and the 3.73 EE.

What I really would like to see from Intel is an EE chip based off of the Gallatin 4MB core (top yield part). On a Socket 478 platform and with unlocked multipliers.

But it'll never happen. It is technically easy for Intel to do though. The ease that the original EE was produced from the Xeon MP chips shows how easily Intel could make this happen.

But it would be giving us what we want...
