no , i'd got the same temps about with my FX53 , i'm at 3050 Mhz prime95.
i've done 26 sec superpi at 3100mhz.

same temps? u sure? interesting...! same vcore same speed=exactly the same temp? hmmmm then they really only used strained silicon on very selected spots of the cpu... or the soi prevents them from running hotter...

it's hard to tell you if the temps are exactly the same because i ve flashed to F5 bios and it does changes on temps monitoring.
Moreover i d never ran prime at 1,665v with my FX53.

yeahh i just read the whole thread over again because i didnt believe it.

But the chip still does well on air 2.8ghz which is like FX57 and 3ghz is like FX59, pretty amazing knowing your ahead like 1 year ahead.

I also thought that stock heatsink is Thermalright SP90 because it looks exactly the same. I'd like to know what are the temp. with it at stock voltage and if its worth spending 50 bucks for the SP90.

this is the FX55's HSF.

You know normally I throw the boxed hsf in the pile but to be honest if you get rid of that fan and stick an 80cfm delta on it I can't see the normal extreme heatsinks such as Thermalright etc doing that much better.

I guess when you pay £600 for a cpu they can afford a good quality heatsink.

I wouldn't go that far. It's a great sink for a retail box, but I'd stack it up with a random cheap manufacturer's (example: speeze) top of the line sink. It has heatpipes and thin fins, but that certainly doesnt mean it performs like a thermalright.

Thats just because the results on air are so amazing, these chips are reaching the limits of what they can do.

if Intel put those babies on a presscott retail package.. that would be smart on their end.. sigh ever since 1992 their fans and stickers on the fans havn't changed.. and they still insist on using crappy heatsinks that barely get the job done..

btw I bet that heatsink performs relatively well.. at least as good as an slk-800.. assuming you place a better fan on it.. strange but in the pic of the heatsink.. it looks like there is space for 2 more heatpipes.. maybe im looking at something odd.. heh amds planning for a future heatsink

Download www.irfanview.com and plugins...

prnt-scr -> open irfanview -> ctrl-v to paste image -> use mouse to highlight only area you want to show -> ctrl-Y to crop that area -> ctrl-R to resize it to 450-700pixels for forums -> save as -> jpeg -> options set at 65-75% quality

= nice small image
