BH5 need very high voltage on this Board! With 3,3V + most ppl can reach
260 and higher. Some new BH5 records are on the K8N Neo2!

@ |-Jokker-| I tried the Mushkin BH-5 I have and it wouldn't even post at 10X220FSB.. Tried all types on timings. No good. I had Vdimm at 2.85V.... I have had that memory at 240 on other K7 boards...

@ Gravedigga Here is a pic of the "Standard 3.3V bus to Vdimm":

Yeah, thx exactly what i want to do

    2. BH5 cant go over 220 without any mod, that sucks a bit, but not for them who modded this board

I didn't solder the mod in place because I don't have any memory that will work with it yet..... Maybe tomorrow.....

No rise, but the Vdimm is on 3,3V ever, no chance to change it.(when u mod ur PSU u can or u have an OCZ)

If u can increase your 3,3v psu rail the mem's will follow that value with that mod!

Weird that oc with mushkin bh-5 cuzz i see lot of cases that work like a charm, more then 270, bad luck maybe????
Ever tried those bh5 on a different board ?

Thats probably coz people are using the Vdimm/3.3V bypass mod for really high Vdimm values and BH5.

@potkit: You have to scrape away some of the laminate to expose the copper trace. Tin the copper, tack down your wires, done. Just don't leave the iron on the trace too long...as quickly as possible as a matter of fact. You can cause damage pretty quickly if you get too much heat on the board.

I've got a question myself about kyosen's mods. I understand that the 1st step only gets you so far without doing the 2nd. I'm just wondering what happens when you do OVP the board. Does it just not post until you adjust VDimm back down? Also, how far down do you have to adjust the 1k in step 2 to get the board to let you do say 3.6-3.7V? I'd like to just drop a fixed resistor in for the OVP defeat and not have to with adjusting it, or running into OVP, but really have no clue what it'll take. Obviously less then 1k, is maybe 500 Ohms enough?

Now, unlike most of people looking at VDDR I am more interested in VDD mod.

Looks like to me the var in bottom is used for VDD mod. And leg that says VDD of mosfet must be measuring point. I am guessing you want to start at highest posible resistance on this mod? Running out of FSB regardless of HTT on dual channel vs single channel and I think this might be the fix doctor ordered... time to look where my grabbers are with 20kohm attached once I get some confirmation. What is default value of vdd er... chipset voltage anyway? And what should be decently safe zone based on nForce3 design?
    Thanks in advance

If I solder a pot between the two spots, would'nt it be possible to change the vdimm that way?

Sorry man there's no way to do that, unless you could find a 1ohm 15W pot.

the 3.3V line gives something around 5 amp to the fet, with something around 15W, pots usually supports around 1/2W so it won't be enough.

I can use a variable reosthat (1ohm 20W) or eighther some diodes in series feeding it straight from the 5V line.

Sorry, what is "OVP" ? ...you mean "over power" ?
English is not my own language, so abbreviation is difficult for me

    >Also, how far down do you have to adjust the 1k in step 2 to get the board
    > to let you do say 3.6-3.7V?

I'll check it later...now I'm busy at Dothan testing

    Yes, that's right!

    > What is default value of vdd er... chipset voltage anyway?
    > And what should be decently safe zone based on nForce3 design?
    --
Default value of Vdd was around 1.6~1.65V, within my memory.
I don't know safety zone, but confirmed upto 1.693V

    Thanks

kyosen: Yes, "OVP" I'm meaning Over-Volt Protection. I am assuming this is why only 3.2V with step 1, and more after doing step 2. I was just wondering how the board will act if I try to set higher then the board will allow before making the step 2 change.

Thanks for looking into it, I'm glad you still pop into this thread. I need to buy a tool to get the Corecell cover off, so I can't do step 2 quite yet anyway.

Now I've checked it after soldering off one of wires.
    It's about 650ohm.
In this state, I could get Vddr=3.698V at Vio=3.823V.

    > I was just wondering how the board will act if I try to set higher
    > then the board will allow before making the step 2 change.
    --
Too high Vio/Vddr may causes failing cold boot,
but in my case, the system looks enough robust.
I could start up the system at Vio/Vddr=3.807/3.653V.
    PSU: Zippy-460WS(5V&3.3V modded)
    memory: M.tec PC2700(BH-6) 256MB x2

    Good luck!
