hopefully they are all G0; i dont know.

i would expect there will still be chips with the older steppings floating around...hopefully retailers will mark the new chips as G0 in their adverts.

i bet someone gets caught trying to buy a G0 q6600 and actually ends up with an older stepping...

actually still more interested in the new duallies myself.

how is the vdroop on that e6850? are you guys still recommending the P5K Deluxe over DQ6 because of the vdrop adjustment feature? I haven't played with Intel since the Celeron 300A but I'll be back July 22 and looks like this G0 stepping is exactly what the doctor ordered to replace my aging Opty 170.

right now i have a gigabyte ds3. i have reserved a 6300 that goes to 3.2 on stock volts, it was never pushed. would the 6550 be worth it over my cpu ?
note: i am getting an awesome deal on the 6300 too. Im just trying to have a reliable setup for a year or two.

Problem is in low multi ... if you want this chip you NEED great excelent mobo with 550+ FSB ... and this is big problem for many mobos ... maybe chip E6850 will be great, but massive OC attack will be with Wolfdale and Yorkfield in two months ... i am sure everyone can skip these E6x5x chips..

Just a question, are these new E6X50 series compatible with 680i? because i have a striker extreme motherboard from asus, and i dont know if it will be.

i saw it is LGA 775 but maybe a chipset incompablity?

and well, the striker is officially capable and compatible with 1333 FSB. But i dunno if compatible with THIS series.

    I think E6x50 will be G0 along with QX6x50

I think those dreaming of a G0 step Q6600 are months off.

it turned out not to be a P5K problem but a CPU problem.

There was one sample I had that could only clock to ~485MHz FSB before it hit FSB wall.

It just happened to be the first CPU I selected, and the first CPU I put in the P5K Deluxe. Second CPU I grabbed from the tray and put in the P35-DQ6 worked fine. I still prefer the gigabyte board, but Im happy I didnt have to return a 2nd P5K Deluxe lol.

Anyway, rest assured that lame duck CPU is sitting at the bottom of my trash can now. Never again will that guy disappoint me. Thats the problem with doing benchies during weekdays.

Benchmarking + work + no sleep = bad.

I wouldnt really worry about it, but seriously why pre-order? It isnt like there is going to be a shortage when it launches.

I thought the g0 steps for the Q6600 was being released in sept? I read somewhere games benefit from a higher fsb than more cores running it as of right now. I have that correct right?

I see so from your E6850 G0 trays what were the respective max fsb you came across ? just looking to see what the deviation is (yeah i know small sample size).

I didnt even test max fsb. All I can say is, the E6850 is a TOTALLY different animal.

Tomorrow I will be testing E4500 step M, we'll see what I can do on that.
