Smile camouflage's first impressions of a godlike QX9650 week 39

The "god of overclockes" did listen to my prayers and sent me this beauty yesterday:

Could hardly believe it, but this chip boots 4GHz into WINDOWS at 1.168 volts and runs 32M stable at only 1.200 volts.......... :

So I think I'll have a lot of fun this years x-mas............

    If nothing works nomore......:

    Santa are you listening?
Good to know how well the new 45nm scale.
Let us know what it does on "normal" cooling also

HIPRO5 says that the last 2 numbers show the "closer to the wafer" rating, but I think it is the last 3 ones. On AMD ATHLON XP it has been also the last 3 ones - so maybe xxx186 is better than xxx206 and so on....., if so, this chip is very close to............

I'm using "normal" cooling mate - You can buy my watercoolsystem parts for a hand full of $ everywhere...., no chiller, no subzero and this shot was made with closed window(we have -5°C at nite these days) at 20°C roomtemp (I think coretemp 95.4 reads the temps a bit too low..... ).

Definitely sweet! Will be interesting to see what it can do! This may make my E8500 vs Qx9650 decision tougher.

You might not believe this - but I bought it from an italian EBAY shop and the price I payed is less than it is at any european online shop....

This is the exact same chip I have... L739A664
It's definately an interesting batch #. Eva has this chip as well and has had an awful OCing experience with it, I on the other hand am having a blast!

I've had it up to 4.6 @ 1.55v (load) stable enough to do some super pi and wprime runs, but it was nowhere near prime95 stable... this chip is capable of some amazing overclocks, but it's really hard to get prime stable.

I am currently testing at 4.15 (415x10) with 1.47v set in bios, but it drops to 1.4v under load. 2 hours into prime right now...

again, this batch (at least my chip) is capable of some amazing clocks, but stability on the other hand...

EVA has .....644 - not .....664..., but some days ago I made the same mistake and was wondering why this chip won't go any further.....

Same LZ39A664 here. No complaints here, except it needs some volts to scale under phase. I limit mine to 1.6v (1.58v reported) Victor Wang had one die recently but he had volts all the way up to 1.8v.

I wonder why intel isn't releasing these CPU's at a default clock of like 4GHz - it isn't even a problem on the standard cooler

That would totally rip AMD apart though..

    Amazing chip you got there.

because they don't need to. AmD is so far behind they can afford to play the waiting game. That's why they are delaying the rest of the 45's

    so testing with prime:
    4.1 - 1.45v
    4.2 - 1.51v
    4.3 - 1.57v
This is what I need to be prime stable...

I can however run at 4.4 @ 1.5v and do everything but prime. I can run all my programs and games without a hitch, but on prime, 2 cores fail immediately. I don't know how to interpret the behavior of this chip...
