    Asus EAH3870x2 Stock - CPU@Cascade: Some 3D numbers

I received yesterday a Asus 3870x2 for a quick OC mini-review and decide to put it in the Mars on cascade.

    Setup
    - QX9650 @ 2stage rotatary cascade
    - Foxcomm Mars (thank you Shamino )
    - Corsair 6400C3
    - Silvertsone OP1200W
    - Asus EAH3870x2 Stock @ 900-990

    Photo of the setup

The drivers seems very imature and can only OC to 900 core, 990 mem with stock cooler

Let's see what it got :

    3DMark 2006

    3DMark 2005

    3DMark 2001

The score on my favorite game was really killed by the ridicolous low Nature - 700 (against 800 on CF Stock 3870 and 900 on CF Stock 2900XT). This HD was not fully tweaked, but the low nature seems to be caused by the very imature drivers (using 8.41 that came in the Asus CD)

Anyway these numbers are not to bad for a "single card" - the main advantage of the 3870x2 is that can be used in any motherboard that have only 1 16X PCIe slot, like this fantastic Foxcomm Mars

I may re-run the benchs with better tweaks, hope new drivers will give a good boost on performance ..

Is the graphics card clocks at stock, or the cooler?

Are you really pushing 1.928v into that processor?

    master, nice review,
Possilbe another 3870x2 which has 0.8ns GDDR3 Top version from asus be better than CF of 3870?

compare to my stockfan of 3870CF,

and , Tim , 03 only 20% on CPU, all things depended on GPU
even i ran same clock of 3870 and CPU 5.5G, only 81 to 8.2K

i think 3870CF gets better bandwidth than reference X2,anyone will try Top vesion from asus.im curious about that.

Hey man I have a question for you. Could you link me to a guide that shows the process of volt modding a 3850. I'm thinking of grabbing a couple for CF, If I can get some decent clocks out of them then that will prove to be very good value indeed! Cheers.

I would have thought that a thread/test of a GPU would be the ideal place to run/display a GPU heavy benchmark?!?

A small update - 3870x2 still stock and the max with this bios and stock cooling seems to be very low - 900 core and only 1030 on the memory - really low compared to my single 3870s that go up to 930-1330 with stock cooler with the mod bios ..

Anyway here are the updates :

    34K 2005

    95K in my favorite game...

System tests are not bad, but Nature is very low due to low memory speed, maybe DDR4 versions of the 3870x2's will be better in terms of memory OC ..

Anyway the good thing is that with this great QX9650 I can 3D bench at 5.600Mhz with the Foxcomm Mars in the Cascade ...I'm sure will also run my favorite game in the new fantastic suprise that Shamino send me, thanks a lot my friend

I've a question for you Pedro Rocha..

You say that a 16x pci-ex motherboard is enough to run this card... Then can this 1 x 16x motherboard enable crossfire or run like a single card ?

The big differance is memory with DDR3 on the X2's and DDR4 on the 3870. I think getting into the timings we might be able to loosen up a bit and get much higher clocks.

Pedro, nice results my friend ... I feel that for one more time, it's worth mentioning that your 9650 rocks ... What were the temps, during the runs ?
