yeah a helium pump would be needed liquid helium + regular ln2 pot is not that good
    maybe using a dilution refrigerator

The capacity it self isn’t the problem the Heat capacity of helium is good even better then that of Nitrogen the problem is the low density at boiling point. The density at boiling point of nitrogen is about 6.5 times denser then that of helium. And also the Heat of vaporization of helium isn’t good at all (overlooked that at first lol edited after zbogorgon post)

    thermodynamics one on one lol
    -----------------------------------------------

    properties:

    Helium:
    Standard atomic weight: 4.002602(2) g·mol−1
    Density: (0 °C, 101.325 kPa) 0.1786 g/L
    (Density 0.12473 g/ml liquid, 1 Atm, @ boiling point)
    Melting point: (at 2.5 MPa) 0.95 K (-272.2 °C, -458.0 °F)
    Boiling point: 4.22 K (-268.93 °C, -452.07 °F)
    Critical point: 5.19 K, 0.227 MPa
    Heat of fusion: 0.0138 kJ·mol−1
    Heat of vaporization: 0.0829 kJ·mol−1
    Heat capacity: (25 °C) 20.786 J·mol−1·K−1

    Nitrogen:
    Standard atomic weight: 14.0067(2) g·mol−1
    Density: (0 °C, 101.325 kPa) 1.251 g/L
    (Density 0.80663 g/ml liquid, 1 Atm, @ boiling point)
    Melting point: 63.15 K (-210.00 °C, -346.00 °F)
    Boiling point: 77.36 K (-195.79 °C, -320.42 °F)
    Critical point: 126.21 K, 3.39 MPa
    Heat of fusion: (N2) 0.720 kJ·mol−1
    Heat of vaporization: (N2) 5.57 kJ·mol−1
    Heat capacity: (25 °C) (N2) 29.124 J·mol−1·K−1

    -----------------------------------------------

    comparison:
    Helium:
    Heat capacity: (25 °C) 20.786 J·mol−1·K−1 = 5.193J/(kg*K)

    Nitrogen:
    Heat capacity: (25 °C) (N2) 29.124 J·mol−1·K−1 = 2.079J/(kg*K)

    Helium:
    Heat capacity of 100ml (density at boiling point): (25 °C) 0.065 J/K

    Nitrogen:
    Heat capacity of 100ml (density at boiling point): (25 °C) 0.168 J/K

    Helium:
    Heat of vaporization: 0.0829 kJ·mol−1 = 20.712kJ/kg

    Nitrogen:
    Heat of vaporization: (N2) 5.57 kJ·mol−1 = 367.667kJ/kg

    Helium:
Heat of vaporization of 100ml (density at boiling point): 0.245J

    Nitrogen:
Heat of vaporization of 100ml (density at boiling point): 32.077J

    Heat of vaporization: (N2) 5.57 kJ·mol−1 vs. Heat of vaporization: 0.0829 kJ·mol−1
this is what is the problem with Helium, almost no enery needed for phase shifting, and with LN2, there the reall cooling capacity is stored.

Yes it will be worse, alot worse really if you dont have a unlimited amount. So better designed pots. Or good cascades is what I prefer for running graphic cards.

    Whos da best?

Ok so this is interesting Kinc has an: ASUS P5W DH and Macci has the : DFI Lan Party UT ICFX3200-T2R is that right - no /G at the end? Anyway both these mobos run crossfire at 2 x8 PCI-E lanes. Itll be interesting to see which of these 2 win! I was just about to buy a Asus P5K Deluxe WiFi Intel P35. But I noticed the crossfire runs: 1 at x16 and the other at x4 - would this be not as good and what do you guys think is the best mobo for crossfired 2900xt's or are they virtually the same? Keeping in mind other things like overall performance of course! cheers!

I'm stll waiting for bridges, have to cards but only one bridge I'm getting it tomorrow along with a P5K Deluxe DDR2. I should be getting the DFI board some time next week. I will do a comparison.

From what I heard P5K handles crossfire well even with its 16+4 design. Will be interesting to see.

    Anand has a comparison of 975 vs p35: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2990&p=3

ASUS P5K Deluxe is the motherboard to get for crossfire until X38. Unless the NB-SB link turns out to be limiting when overclocking.

in games P35 is little behind, but 3DMarks, all except 03 are all CPU limited, so u gain more with beter mem controler than you loose for 16x/4x

    thanks

Ah cool nice one so basically the drivers are not sorted yet for the asus p35 board in vista so it will fall down for now, but will be the best option if you buy hardware currently and get drivers later. I am ordering one now....

if helium is alot worse than how come fugger used to use it occasionally back in the p4 days? i have an idea, perhaps a combination of helium and nitrogen?would it be all that bad if the nitrogen turned solid inside a pot? the helium would quite possibly make the nitrogen colder and last a little longer .

bro if can give me the link where fugger did that il belief u .
becaus helium is let dens then LNē , it can absorb less heat !

i dont have proof but you might find this useful:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ndbzw...elated&search=
i remember fugger used to have a helium rig but im not sure if he ever used it for benching.

^^^^^part 1 explains more.i linked part 6 because it shows the nitrogen turning solid because of the helium.

price alone wont stop the xs legends .seriously, how good would a combination of nitrogen and helium be?
nitrogen cools the videocard while the helium cools the nitrogen or both, if that makes sense.

Very very very large compressor(s) + liquid helium can provide extreme cooling. The helium doesn't really condense in this system though: heat is extracted by the expending helium. I think Chilly1 built such a system with a 8000BTU+ compressor a long time ago for FUGGER, but it could only handle a load of <30W.

To Kinc I have to say 5 words: You deserve your title sir
