i must know how much performance boost brings the DDR3 so i will know what i'm going to do with my 2x1gb DDR2 Crucial Ballistix DDR1000.(stay with P35 or go directly to X38).if initial DDR3 performance sucks,i will stick with my DDR2.

Whats the release date that they are aiming for with these? I was gonna get a ds3 and a e6600 but with these coming out soon im tempted to get some DDR2 and the 6600 and which ever version of the new mobo is best on release. Im still stuck on this old school 939 x2 with ddr and im itchign for something new.

I think Intel is pushing the new memory formats just to stick it to amd (on chip memory controller makes it harder to adapt to new memory)

I think a lot of people are overlooking that "Made In China" in the corner over there.

From what I've seen all the striker extreme's made in china can't even hit 400mhz fsb...

Also this heatpipe crap really doesn't work very well. The nb on my striker is still boiling with that heatpipe on.

Many people have resorted 2 cutting the heatpipes and just getting some hr-05's.

If you just look at it logically it makes no sense. As everyone knows heat travels up. Also the SB is most likely the coolest part in that whole heat pipe loop. Why would you want heat going from a boiling NB to an already hot mosfet?

Hurray! More useless heatpipes! And why in DDR3's name P5K has less heatpipes than P5K3? isn't that pure marketing (look at Striker vs P5N32-E)?

Just like in the MSI offering, useless heatpipes as mentioned a few times now, could have spent the money on improving the power supply section of the CPU/Memory even more than all this useless copper heatpipe gimmick!

Mmm, loving the legacy-free I/O panel. I'm glad they're finally eschewing redundant PS/2 ports, LPT ports, and so forth. Everything's gone USB/Firewire/eSATA anyway.

I wonder if mounting a heat sink will be a problem? Those sinks completely surround the CPU.
