I need a new mobo..I give up with this RD600

I got my second board...it was 26hrs P95 stable with config. in siginature..ran 3Dmark03/05/06with no issues..ram is tested with 50 passes test 5 memtest86(this board refuses to run my ram at 500mhz like my previous board without my vdimm set higher than the previous board)...I wonder if the voltage regulation is off on this board

then 3 days ago...I reran 3Dmark05 and it reboots my setup...I have tried for 3 days to figure out the issue..I went to 3400 as well..I reflashed 12/22 and then flashed 2/12 bios....still no go

My first RD600 and this RD600..ran my cpu at 3400@1.4625 and 3500@1.525 20+ hrs plus prime 95 stable...I got screenshot but who cares

I have had it...no reason for this to become unstable and nothing seems to fix the issue

I need to get something else....but what?

I leaning toward BadAxe2 ...but nothing seems to be a good option

I would like to run my cpu at 3400-3500 @1.46v-1.52v and my ram at 400-45-mhz 4-4-4-4-18 or 500mhz 5-6-5-5-18

my cpu need ot much vcore for 3600

hmmm so your experience with the RD600 has been poor? Man this board has turned out to be such a flop, nowhere near as good as early ES's were and as ti was hyped it up to be...

My first board was great up until I tired to run sync mode....I could never get it to clear the cmos...I wish i had bought a backup bios chip

The new board runs 5-7C hotter on NB at lower voltage....it seems more finicky now

and I know people will say its my cpu...I really doubt it...how could I run at least 6 runs of 20+ hrs of P95 blend and at least couple dozen runs of 3Dmark05 on 2 different RD600..than out of nowhere it fails....I just cant buy the cpu

It may have been the most hyped, delayed mother board ever that turned out to be just a also ran in the middle of the pack board.

If anyone can remember a more hyped and delayed board that turned out to be just a so so mb, please tell me.

I'm with you nealh. I got a BadAxe2 and besides my CPU having a bad lap there has been nothing but clear skies with this board. My RD600 just wasn't that much up to scratch. Bad vdroop and questionable stability.

    I highly recommend the BadAxe2.

I have tried this board as well, and gave up on it after a week, and I got this board after several weeks of it being out. I know that I gave up too early, but if the board doesn't perform after it's been out for quite some time, I am not going to spend any more time.

I have tried eVga 680i, and it's almost same crap, Kentsfield OC is a miserable experience (and I hear they did recall their board, I don't care anymore), and I have problems with sound and lan card.

Asus Commando has this buzzing sound, and I thought my board is faulty.

So I am sticking with two boards for now: Bad Axe 2, Asus P5B Deluxe. I also use Abit AW9D-Max from time to time. Not sure about the Abit QuadGT though, it looks like it's a killer mobo.

If you are the same nealh from freaks forum, do consider the Asus P5W DH Dlx cos at stock, it would allow you to hook up up to 4 PATA ODDs in your collection. Hitting 390FSB should be quite easy too.

Quite a few ODD fans are using this mobo too.

Yup, the Asus P5W DH dlx is not the newest around but it is so far the most stable board for my 6600cpu. WC cooled cpu (fuzion) at 3600mhz-1.33v load - 47c Orthos small fft and 55c TAT 100%. OCZ8500SLI rams at 800 4.4.4.12 2.0v. The NB at 1.55v. 3700 no problem as well. Bootable at 4000mhz with voltages set to high.
After the news about highvoltage (within specs.)killing rams (anything above 1.8 really) Im afraid to lose my 6th set of rams.
Yes, thats right. 1 Corsair 6400 cas 4, Corsair 8500cas5, Corsair 8500cas5D, OCZ8500SLI, OCZ 9200 wc cooled one..... And yes, there was two 680i mobos involved as well. EVGA and Striker ...... Never ran those rams above recommended max voltages.
The last 6 months I went throu Abit AW9D max, Evga680i R.I.P., Gigabyte S3, DS3, DQ6, Asus Striker Extreme R.I.P., Asus P5N E sli DOA, and right now Asus P5W DH. Satsified so far. I have an Asus Commando staring at me begging for testing but I don know if its worth it....

quadgt/dfi-infinity. for your target of 445ddr, you could run 1:1 and 8x multi and satisfy cpu speed too. plus, those boards run 1066 strap

I have an XBX 2 and it is running very well. It likes Vmch (which is the opposite of what most need) and I get about 460FSB out of it. Super stable but a bit of a biach to OC. Still that lingering of Intel OCing from the XBX.

Really want to water cool the chipset but havent got around to selling my MCW-30 and getting something that doesnt have a mickey mouse mounting system.

All-in-all I have been very happy with the XBX's I have had with the XBX2 at the top of boards I have ever owned.

well i say P5B DLX , or 965P-DS3 ... both r awesome 965 boards ... oh and Abit Quad GT as well

does 975XBX2 requires vcore mod?? to get vcore?? if not then yeah i recommand it

i owned an badaxe it was quite good actually.. but 975xbx2 can "only" oc kentsfield about 380fsb ... so if u want more P5B DLX is better, but chances r 380fsb with badaxe 2 performs faster than P5B DLX @ 380fsb ..

I had "understood" that the Badaxe 2 did not require any mods to overclock?
As for the 380FSB limit, is this also the FSB limit for the Badaxe 2 with a C2D?
If so, what is the cause of this limitation?

    Thanks,
    Andrew

No mods needed for OC'ing the XBX2. Also if you have decent airflow you will be fine with chipset cooling using stock components and no need to reapply TIM.

Vdroop is crazy awesome on the XBX2. Around 0.02v The C2D FSB limitation is between 450-475 and the Quad was higher than 380 I thought, but am not sure. I thought it was about 420...

Cool .. cuz my badaxe needed that vcore mod,

i might pick it up once i get Q6600 in Q3 when it drops to $266

266 bux for a quad is just too cheap , and i dont think AMD's is any cheaper

    here i found supertimer's thread:
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=124131

3.4GHz on XBX2 is about as fast as 3.7Ghz on P5B DLX ?!?!?!? woot?

2nd thought .. P5B DLX is more OCer friendly , but if u want Crossfire .. 975XBX2 it is

Bad Axe2 boards are ok, but recent bioses have removed the overclocking abilities of the board.

BIOS 2333 overclocks like a charm, rock stable at high FSBs.

of course...but have you tried one of the latest? I use 2653...works the same as 2333, and drive light is not always on. bioses after that one, overclocking is hampered.

so bios 2653 and bios 2333 are good for overclocking but nothing later after those...

I have no idea if or when i will buy a Q6600(I really dobut it will $266 in the near future)

I am just fed up with this second board..oh how I wish I had gotten a backup bios chip...what a moron

    Thanks guys
