I have a TForce 570U Rev. 5.x I think it's more or less same as yours. I will try to post my pic later.

Yea, jumper sets it to 2.4V on versions 1.3 and up (2.2V on lower versions).

Ah, I thought you had said Tforce550 5.x, I looked at your picture and was going crazy because they had completely changed the board lol. Not only is layout different but it also has 2 more SATA ports and one more PCIE1X (I have no idea why, those slots remain essentially useless).

You won't regret it, That is a very fun combo. And all 3 of the builds I put together have no problems.

Another build on the way. This one I will use better memory than the other 3 builds!

I can only hope. It has always been a dream of mine to obtain 3ghz dual core on AMD, now it looks like I might.

What would be some good memory to get with this setup?

    Currently I am getting the CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-6400C4 - Retail from the 'egg.

I am hoping to get 3Ghz stable on the build, so I will need a really good air cooler. Any suggestions on that as well?

Just out of curiosity, could you get ram thats rated at say DDR2 1200 (PC2 9600) and run it in this board, would it allow you more freedom to overclock, and not be limited by the RAM in anyway? I believe this ram requires 2.3 - 2.35v?

    Thanks!

I will probably end up buying that cooler, unless a better alternative comes up. I really want to keep my CPU running as cool as possible using the best possible air cooling solution. I really wanted something that blows the air off to the side, but this may due.

That ram will not limit you overclock at all. It's D9 and I ran it at 1 Ghz with 2.15 volts no problem. and the best thing about that cooler is it cools the ram as well . look at my screen shot it is not going over 40C on orthos.

My combo is a mere 10 mins away from me now, but I cannot pick it up thanks to the customer center being closed on Sat.

Really...suggestions? I've never used any custom cooling a NB before. I'm not sure what can fit with my 8800GTS

I am having some problems, it seems my ram is holding me back.

I am using SuperTalent ram @ 2.15v. It seems the second I go to 302mhz fsb the memory goes ape. When I enable the DDR400 option in BIOS it wont even post, yet using DDR533 setting it will post. Any ideas here?

edit: BTW I know my HTT is at 1200mhz, even when I put it down to 3x multi the same problems persist.

Details? Like what kind of custom cooling, temps before/after, and increased overclocking results?

From what I can tell it seems like my Northbridge is staying pretty chilly with the stock hs.

In my experiences an adequate solution is to remove the stock thermal pad and reseat the heat sink with AS5. The NB doesn't get too hot.

Interesting, someone else on rebelshaven had the same problem, so I decided to try the 533 divider myself (even though I had to really loosen the timings with my valueram), and now I am fairly stable at 3ghz (still testing), whereas before I couldn't even pass a 1m SuperPi at 2.95.

What are the SPD ratings for your ram? Maybe you could try the 6-6-6-15 timings I am running right now with the 533 divider.

I had the same problem with a Windsor X2 3800+ and Sempron 2800+. It's a combination of chipset, RAM, CPU, and high HTT. For me with the X2 3800+, adjust the clock skew to advance 600ps helped. With the Sempron, NOTHING worked except switching from ProMOS to Micron based RAM. With my current Brisbane, everything has been OK (knock on wood).

I hit a wall at 3.2GHz, it did not want to stabilize (errors out of Orthos in 9 mins) even at 1.65V and above. Currently stable at 3.13GHz @ 1.6V.
