I think its safe to say that the Tforce 550 ver 1.3 is a much better board than the ver 1.0 because the ver 1.0s I had (two of them) didn't like much above 275 htt but these are friendly well beyond that.

Well I have seen plenty of people get past 275HTT on a 1.0 board (including myself, I was doing 305HTT), but I do agree that the 1.3 is an overall better board. The main reason is that they changed the vdimm power supply from a linear supply to a switching one so that the mosfets don't get incredibly hot.

AMD are awesome if you want to build a compact M-ATX system... Is it me or does the Brisbane core 3600+ come with 2x 512k cache and a 9.5x multi

    brent,

Why do you always come into AMD threads and troll?

You Intel guys really do make me sick, here you have again wrecked a good thread, with your crap.

    1) I already SAID this was a GREAT bang for your buck.
    2) 1/2 the discussion in this thread was because Mike can't do math (no offense mike).
    3) And WHAT, PRAY TELL, did you contribute to this thread that was constructive?

Did you happen to notice that I was NOT the one that brought up C2D? No, guess that SLIPPED past you.

So let me get this straight - it's OK for someone else to bring C2D in an AMD thread, but I can't REPLY to their comment?

    Sure buddy. Whatever.

And for the record, I own 2X as many AMD systems as Intel systems. So how does that make me an "Intel guy"?
Because there is one problem always continueing. You have to 100% worship AMD products or you are a troll/fanboy/flamer/idiot etc. Its all due to the fact AMD is the small dog and we all have to stand up for AMD nomatter what and nomatter the cost.

    I can only hope

That the fighting between AMD and Intel will be just as fierce as the fanboy fights here. that way we all get the best CPU's for cheap.

Yup, I have a Ultra Micro-Fly with Abit nf-m2-nview and a 3600 Brisbane running 3ghz for the last couple months or so. My favorite system build by far. Small and compact but still with loads of power...

Gotta say that's an awesome combo, ive been strugling to get the money for a cheapo C2D setup (on budget due to ex-wife ripping me off lol), aint gonna do that after seing this thread, hell i may even be able to afford a new gfx aswell, too bad i cant order one of those combos as im european, but price difference aint that big tho, will be interesting putting one of them cpus to the test with some serious wc

    The Result

The same exact settings and the same exact results. This one however boots at 333 HT. so that gives it a speed of 3170. I have no time to test it to the bleeding edge. So thats 2 for 2 at 2.85 GHZ 24/7 Stable and one at 2.5 GHZ stable (the one with the 400 watt cheap power supply.)

Nice, you aren't going to try for 3ghz? Mine seems to hit a brick wall at 306HTT, anything further than that is just completely unstable.

I tried 3 GHZ but that not 100% thats like 80% stable (Runs orthos for ~15 minutes and crashes randomly under load.) This speed is good for this hardware and so no complaints. I don't have the computer anymore so no more testing until I get another order.

    OMG WTF? 5.0 SE? lol.

Did you get that from the egg? Any apparent differences from 1.3?

Yes I got it from the egg along with the new 3600+. I didn't pay attention to the PCB physically but it seems to be capable of running at higher HT speeds more stable. For example I was able to boot at 333 X 3 no problem. on the previous board that didn't happen no matter how I begged so it is a good sign. go back to my earlier pics and compare them, with the new one see if you can spot something. I'll do that right now maybe I'll spot something. The reason why I didn't post the pics of 333 x 3 is because it was not stable. If it is not 100% stable it is useless and totally pointless. I would also like to point out that these systems feel "snappier" than C2D systems because of tighter timings and a better memory architecture on AMD's part. releasing this CPU is the best thing AMD has done this year.

Almost the same thing. Who knows doe some testing before returning anything. They are almost the same Especially the end result.

If you are doing HT 300 stable keep your board and don't risk it.

oh I have been testing. This combo does seem to be stable at 3GHz (while its still early spring anyway).

Thing is to run a 3GHz. I have to run my DDR2-800 (Corsair 6400C4) ram at DDR2-600 though with 2.1 volts. The divider is set to 400 and if I move it to 533 it won't boot. And I'm not going to give this ram 2.4. When I ran at 2.38GHz I could run the ram at DDR2-950 at 2.1 volts!

im having similar issues with ram and the cpu. I can get to 2.85 ghz fine on the 533 divider but 667 wont work. Funny mem controller.

Does anyone know what is the closest board available that is most similar to the BIOSTAR TFORCE 550 GF550 AM2 board as it is not available in AU

Thanks anyway but found after a search, looks like a great rig for the price and I will definitely look at this option the next build
