QFT, but to me it is THE most exciting thing I'm looking forward to in 2007. Just look at that memory usage. Seems I could live a little longer with this 1GB RAM kit.

Wonder if NUMA will speed up the multi threaded GS mode (MTGS) and dual core mode in PCSX2 PS2 emulator I'm currently trying it out and it seems this dual core & MTGS mode option offers like 35~60% speedboost depending on game for my Opteron 165.

I think that changing the gui is less important. If some people wanted to contribute a wallpaper pack or something to spice things up a bit, that might be an option, but functionality is key methinks . I'm sure that I and others would be willing to do some graphic design work though should the need arise...

No, keep it as simple as possible is my suggestion

I have a request. I don't think it's easy to do, but it would be very nice to add the possibility to view separate threads, on which core they run and how much CPU resources they take up. It would be handy if you can make a dropdown menu functionality to the processes in the taskmanager to view which threads these processes run.

It's awesome if you can optimize your games and benches for multi cores by yourself. And only playing with it sounds very cool to me.

Would something like this be possible?

Question, does this OS support "lock pages in memory" setting which is found in local security settings->local policies->user right assignment in WinXP? I'd need that feature...

I'm guessing that like the previous versions of XSOS we need a valid Windows licence key, but will we need a vista key to use Version 3?

    1) Is this a stand alone system or does it piggy back on XP or VISTA?

    2) If this is based similar to LINUX, why do I need a valid WinXP license key?

    3) If I need a valid XP license key, do i have to activate this XSOS though M$ after installation?

    4) Is this a 32 bit or 64 bit system?

    5) Will it support SLI/SLI enabled drivers? Can I still use nVidia drivers for my board?

    6) Will I be able to have internet access through my onboard lan?

    7) Dx10 support?

Not trying to be PIA, but I have been roaming forums to determine LINUX can be used for running games. Unfortunately, that answer is not very solidly. It can run some, but not others. I support your efforts, but I'm trying to understand what operating system and how one can use it instead of XP or VI$TA.

    Thanks ahead.

Ultimately no keys are required and we are not going to check everyone to make sure they own a Microsoft product. Ultimately we are supposed to suggest you own one M$ os, however I couldn't care if it was 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP/Vista.

Looks already really nice nn. Is it a stripped down version (featurewise) or does it just lack what nobody needs?

I guess you didnt make it worse than previous XSOS, so it will be more than great.
It lacks things that NO User here needs. Such as DRM, Trusted Platform, and that Keylogger

I think many wonders which drivers will work under this OS?

From one point of view it would be good if it supported 2K/XP drivers due to the more mature and huge selection of drivers and availability of drivers for older hardware since it would make even more sense using this OS on an older setup due to the low system resource usage where older systems will benefit even more.

On the other hand it would need to support Vista drivers in order to be future proof and to be able to use DirectX10 I suppose. Too bad Vista drivers availability is low and none/very low for older hardware. And they aren't yet as great as most XP drivers are, however this will change in time but for some older hardware there will never be any Vista drivers but still this OS would rock as it would be the perfect Vista replacement (if that's not fancying you) for your new system and you can't get everything you want but seeing you specified system requirements as P3-300MHz, 64MB RAM, 1.5GB HDD space etc. it would be a huge bonus if this OS could be run on not-so-xtreme-systems as well.

Since you meantion it has DX10 support I take it this OS does use Vista drivers but are Vista drivers the only drivers that will work with this OS? Some clarification on this point would be good.

Yeah, make it fully support aero, but not use any additional system resources

Actually I kind of like the old school windows look, with the exception of that "windows vista" thing on the start menu...it should say something more xtreme. Anyhoo, looks good, cant wait to test it out

While I personally would like it to look a little better, I totally understand the reasons against it...

I am really looking forward to this, if I can get it to work on my dorm network, I will be in hog-heaven. (especially if it works with photoshop well)

    How big is the install?

Can it be booted from removable media like USB pen drive or CD (for folding. etc)?

Flash drives are not an option because of the virtual memory involved in the system.
However a Flash OS is in development for our beloved crunchers, though it lacks DX10 but is far more light on system resources

for ease of use, download Window versions of your favorite applications because we for the most part put Windows Compatibility first and you will see the greatest performance in native windows applications.
