TONY, can you please check out some BIOS that will include VDIMM @ 2.1V from boot = default after clear CMOS, now it will boot with 1.93V and that mean lot of trouble.

New PSU tomorrow so I will report some more then.

    Tony, any new BIOS yet?
...and took with it the Commando mobo
With new PSU and Commando didn't start, old P5W64WS Pro with new PSU everything is ok.

Sad but true, my new Commando is dead

Looking at my old P5B Dlx results, the Commando appears to be slightly faster. The fact that my windoze is now better optimized for Conroe is probably the reason. My guess is 1:1, but it is too early to say. 8M and 32M will give a better indication.

It is clearly much quicker clock per clock than my Biostar P965PT.

Lets see if I can come up with any decent results tonight.

Btw, this is a fantastic board for phase change as you have massive room for insulation around the CPU.

Yep, I assume ASUS engineers still has totally no idea what the "freak" is going on with the double boot, false boot or whatever-you-call-that problem they are encountering with the P965 MCH. No BIOS to fix the problem till date. See http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=128503.

This is as far as I got tonight. After that setting VMCH to 2.025 volts meant adios to my windoze installation and good night for me.

Comparable results in SP 8M showed a 0.3 sec advantage for the Commando vs. P5B Dlx. So, almost 1:1.

He, you post even less than me!

    Vdroop is 0.02 - 0.03 volts.

That's really not that bad, to be fair. I take it that is the difference between full load and idle?

Also, how much MCH voltage did you need to get over 538fsb?

@ ziberia. Are there any pci-e 1x issues with high nb voltage like P5B-Dlx?
Also does it double restarts everytime or only if u change strap like P5B-Dlx with latest bios?

Yes, thats what SpeedFan reports. Haven't had time to check with a mm.

VMCH @ 538 was 2.000 volts. 2.025 messed up windoze really badly and I couldn't reinstall successfully- something about system driver- until i flashed the BIOS. (Just now! )

I'm running pci video, so no clue at the moment.

Double restarts with strap change, not all the time.

WOAH . That's way too much voltage for 24/7 usage, surely???

I thought maybe around 1.7v would suffice for that sort of FSB speed.

Or do you reckon this has something to do with the processor you used, and the fact it’s a high multi 4MB chip?

I’m hoping my E6300 (low multi, 2MB chip) won’t need that much voltage!!!

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but my guess is that it has to do with running the 1066 strap. You also need pretty good NB cooling.

I think you’re right, but it has something to do with the 1066 strap and the high multi used with the E6600 chip.

Did you use any additional cooling, fans, new heatsink etc?

Thanks, sorry for all the questions.
