Just picked up a L630B016 E6600 at Frys in Concord Ca and the VID is 1.2625v.

I haven't had a lot of time with it yet but so far it's at 3.0ghz default vcore passing orthos blend on an Abit AB9. It just replaced a L628A that wouldn't go over 3.4 with any voltage!!

I'll post back when it tops out.

i think the VID is a pretty good way to tell how good your chip will be. I picked up a 31A today and its VID is 1.32v and my 28B was 1.23v. I tested the 31A with same setting as the 28B, and it couldnt hang with it. Needed 1.43v to get stable.

Great, you're about to get a ton of questions like "when did you order?", "what warehouse did it ship from?", & "do you want to sell one?". Then people are gonna order from the egg just to see if they can get a b then RMA when its not

i'm interested to see your result. I wanna see if that VID holds true. Set 1.35v in bios with 400x9 to see if you can get stable. Supposely with that low VID you should be able to.

Is this VID digit accurate even when the CPU is being overclocked?

    I have mine running @ 3.6ghz with 1.3875 (bios), 1.33V (Vdrop)

And CoreTemp shows the VID as 1.0625v

My CPU can boot and do basic windows applications @ 4.06ghz with 1.48V

    Gaming stable with 1.52V

Got 3.2ghz at default vcore and 3.3 failed in 2 minutes. Not going to fine tune it because its getting more volts!

Double checking 3.2 to be sure it's ok.

Hmm, you probably won't find the max using the Abit AW9D-Max. It has issues running orthos blend. 3.2ghz on default volts is good but not "super B". Hopefully things will improve for you.
    ***Edit***
Set your voltage to that the droop is around 1.36v during orthos & set FSB to 400mhz. Most of the great E6600's can do 3.6ghz 1.36vcore.

try lower your FSB and NB Voltage when blend test .. it should last longer .. Anyway it works for me in mY p5B-E plus while tweaks these voltages..

I see you edited, but whether or not I have a 'great' cpu you just don't go jumping around guessing at fsb and vcore. Sorry, I don't have an OS or cpu I want to screw up.

I assumed you had the abit max board when I saw the abit utility, my bad. The 3.6ghz @ 1.36v is a good goal, and it wasn't a guess, its user experience with b core cpus. But I understand if you don't want to push your cpu or system. Have fun with whatever you do. Considering your 3.1 ghz with 1.22vcore @ load, I think you have a real gem there.

We're cool dude. I'm just trying to provide some info for this thread. Raised vMCH up a notch and now it's doing 3.3 Orthos blend ok. Gotta wait till am though. Oh, and I posted wrong screen last post.

lol i do it all the times. It's part of my 3 point check 1.35, 1.45, 1.55. I understand if you dont want to push it. I'm going to try to find another B this week to test out that VID theory.

you need to use coretemp .94, the older version I think read the wrong VID

VID doesnt change, and correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's the minimum require vcore to boot at stock. So the lower it is, the more you are likely to clock higher for less vcore.

I ordered a new setup a few days ago and I got a 0626B 6600 shipped from CA. From what I have seen, this is one of the earliest B steppings out there.

Great results so far, 3825 Orthos stable 1.525v set in bios on a 680i board. I can run a Spi 1m at 4ghz on same volts, but its nowhere near Orthos stable.
Thats decent. I got a L626B089 from there about the same time. I'm waiting on an overclocking board to give it a try.
